TuffersAleksander arrived on the scene as I was setting up a shot near the Pavilion. He promptly leant on my shoulder, as if he too were taking the shot. He was quite, quite drunk. While ordinarily I’d enjoy this sort of camaraderie, I didn’t appreciate it under tier-2 pandemic conditions. The first time in ten months since I’d been into town, and I get the drunken tosser from some insolvent country.

Whisperer in the Darkness is peak Lovecraft.
We went to visit the old bear pit, and my son spent most of the morning unsuccessfully chasing squirrels.

Dear Lord, please let Scubar not get trapped by accident in the attic. We beseech thee that the trapdoor does not mysteriously close behind him, that his PM does not give up the search when Strictly starts, and that she mighteth not shrug her shoulders and moveth house without him. However, O Lord, we know that you are busy at this time of year, so if you can't manage this then can you at least make sure that his PS4 and his spare shed go to a deserving home. Amen, yours etc., all your pals at the Chatterbox in exile.

You’ll be saddened to know I didn’t get trapped in the attic, left to shriek through the vents for the rest of my days.

I got a notification earlier to say Tenthen liked one of my ramblings. She's clearly drunk.
Hi Tenthen! Hope everything is OK.

On the one hand, great that Tenthen is with us, on the other, she’s reduced to trawling through the past few days boxes. Why would you put yourself through that?

On the one hand, great that Tenthen is with us, on the other, she’s reduced to trawling through the past few days boxes. Why would you put yourself through that? Maybe it was a mistake, but if I hadn't I would never have found The Chatterbox Arms and BabyF's Skyrim Adventures... It was most certainly a mistake. Morning! I am stone cold sober which is surprising as I have spent the last two days in hospital. Not as a patient but as a visitor. I can't recommend it, it's full of sick people. It was also a bit worrying when I went past a sign in the corridor that informed me that beyond this point I was entering a "COVID active zone". Luckily Aleksander was nowhere to be seen. Mr Tent Rooster had an extremely close shave but managed to keep his beard and is now on the mend. When the ambulance crew had to pick him up on Sunday night they should have just done what he and I wanted, namely help him to get to his own bed and wish us both a good night. Instead they ignored his very vocal protest and carted him off to hospital. Because of the pandemic they aren't allowing visitors, so I couldn't come with him, which was absolutely counterproductive as it would have helped him when he was so stressed by the whole experience that his heart rate was very high. He spent several hours in A&E and was then (according to him) put into a room with three other people, one of them a racist. Lovely. Supposedly they were doing that because they were worried about his COPD, but the best way to worry anout his COPD is by not exposing him to any infection. Long story short, predictably he came down with a lung infection and on Thursday around lunchtime his daughter phoned me in a panic after she managed to get hold of a consultant (I myself had spent two hours straight on the phone because someone had given her the wrong ward number for which the hospital switchboard couldn't find a working phone number). He was on a ventilator and had not been responsive. There was also talk about kidney failure and they would now allow one visitor at a time. All of this came completely out of the blue - I had expected him to be discharged any day. I jumped into a taxi, and you can imagine what kind of state I was in. When I arrived they made me wear the full PPE kit, including visor. Fortunately the ventilator he was on was the non-invasive type, what they ominously refer to as " The MaskTM". He was conscious and, according to him, bloody relieved to see me, but he found it difficult to communicate, what with the thing strapped to his face. He implored them to take it off, which they eventually did. I was extremely relieved to find that he was basically his normal self, although with a very frightening chesty cough. The consultants came along and it turned out that he apparently had a miracle recovery. I could have told them that I would have this effect on him but I didn't want to rub it in. When I left I asked the night shift whether I could come back the next day, to which they said "of course!" So I went along yesterday and was fortunately let in, although at one point they told me that from now on it would be back to no visits allowed. He was already much better yesterday and the news today has also been positive. The strong antibiotics they had to give him for the infection did a number on his kidneys, but everything is slowly returning to normal. tldr: Mr Tent Rooster doesn't own a PS4 anyway

tenthenemy - I have liked your post as an indication that I very much admire and approve of your retention of a sense of humour. Mr Tent Rooster has a much better chance of survival at home. For some undisclosed reason MrTiddles messaged this to me: it's amusing ...
