Well sort of, it was originally going to be rebooted with a black actor as Buffy with Joss Whedon involved, but now the rumour is the show will feature around a new slayer completely.

Buffy, Angel and Firefly are still great shows.
Buffy especially was empowering to young women, the fact that the creator* is an apparent** toxic and abusive shithead doesn't take that away.
I'm with SMG***: “While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon..."
*Helped a lot by a great team of writers
**Though with Amber Benson (Tara) and Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn) agreeing with Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) "apparent" is redundant.
***Not literally obviously, unless I was in Buffy and forgot.

Not looking good for Joss Whedon. Yeah, always wondered why cordelia suddenly had to go. Charisma Carpenter was excellent in both Buffy and Angel. And the toxic atmosphere on Firefly sets was well known. I'm not one to accept the Harvey Weinstein defence "Look at the great movies". That cannot be used as an excuse for the blighting of so many fine actors. Joss Whedon may you burn in hell |
