Yesterday I had my Covid jab. After all the stories and warnings about side effects I was a bit disappointed when I experienced none. Not even a sore arm. They gave me an information leaflet, a card with the information of the type of vaccine and the date which I will bring along to the 2nd appointment, and, best of all, a sticker that confirmed that I'm a very brave girl who had her vaccine jab without crying. But no lollipop.

It was a really nice, sunny day yesterday and all the people who had to wait for 15 minutes in case they had an adverse reaction to the vaccine because they had driven themselves to the appointment were sitting on the benches outside the vaccination centre. Everything was well organised and there was hardly any waiting time.

Which is more than can be said for the vaccination programme in Germany. In the morning I talked to my mother, who is more than 80 years old and therefore first in line for the jab. Because she's housebound she is going to wait until the vaccine can be administered by her GP during a house visit. However, other over 80s she knows are trying to make an appointment and can't because this can only be done by phoning a "hotline" that's constantly engaged. I couldn't believe it and checked online, and yes, it's true. The online appointment system is only for medical staff and staff at nursing homes.

Went home and had some late Sunday lunch (mushroom stroganoff with pumpkin and sage ravioli, washed down with South African Pinotage) and then fell asleep on the sofa. At least I was well rested when in the evening I joined my friend Andrew Eisen's 4 hour gaming stream of Trails in the Sky after a 3 months hiatus because his (very) old PC gave up the ghost and he had to build a new one. Because GPUs are so expensive at the moment he's using an old graphics card a friend gave him and it was struggling but keeping up. If you like JRPGs and have a gaming PC I very much recommend this game. Great characters and fantastic writing & music. 4 stars.

I have 3 bottles of stormtrooper chilli sauces, each in its own stormtrooper helmet shaped bottle. Xmas pressie. Once finished I will refill with my homegrown naga dust and EVOO mix, which adds oomph to anything and everything.
