Hi
I bring BIG news. I think I have mentioned previously that I'd tried the Iceland Greggs sausage rolls. Bung them in the oven for half an hour and it's almost like Gregg is in your house. Well, Iceland now do Greggs corned beef slices! I know right! My go to Greggs order! Just cooked and scoffed two of them. Tremendous. 4* would recommend.
OTTM, no

I’ve raked some leaves off the lawn. A huge pile (well, it was pretty big anyway). A bit of physical exercise in the sunshine. What does your neighbour say about this sudden leaf bonanza? If by “neighbour” you mean “black composting bin”, then it was most grateful for its bounty.

Talking about amipal being a racist. I've always assumed that the people here are white* and middle class, with one self identified woman. Is that true? If so a bit of a shame really. *<edit>forgot about myself, half Red Indian and all that, but being an Essex/Kent boy for 58 years makes me as white as can be. <edit><edit>I should have added "generally old-ish" as well, which probably explains a lot of things.

It does obviously depend on your definitions to an extent. There were at least two, non-white posters on the Guardian Gamesblog - HiddenAway and AJGunner. There may have been more. I think Jihad was from somewhere in the Middle East, but he didn't say exactly where. There were a few women as well, but they didn't always post much - TenthEnemy (obviously), Marie2490,Wardinator, SerenVikity, Piip, StainlessStyle, SarahHawke plus one or two others. I think Cobra's girlfriend may have occasionally posted. There was a girl from Manchester whose user name I can't remember who was friends with CunningStunt. There may have been a few more and a few who didn't reveal themselves. Mostly though it was bored white men of a certain age* who worked in offices. This was obvious at the meet ups. Fortunately there were a number of partners who came along, some more than once even. If by middle class you mean had been to university and uses a pc for work that pretty much covers everybody. I suppose by definition using the G games site pre-selects for certain demographics. There is one poster who has since started the process of transitioning. So we are on trend in that respect. * Mostly born 1970-1985. Gen Xers Apologies to anyone I have forgotten

I'm white and early sixties. As working class as you can get. Left school at 16 with no qualifications of any kind.

Not me... I joined via the Guardian blog, but most of my posting was done in the evening. And my family were pretty much working class with dad being an engineer and mum working in a factory - but worked bloody hard to buy a house and give my brother and I a stable home. I was a secondary modern kid until 16, but I guess association with folk from a 'higher' class, a voracious reading habit etc have given me the sound and trappings of the middle class. And I am a bit older than most of you

The most overrepresented group were Lloyds employees.
The G was one of the few sites Lloyds didn't block so loads of them hung out there.

All interesting replies.
My class comment was more about who we are now rather than how we were brought up.
My old man, after he failed in America, ended up as a production engineer in Dagenham and my mum was a CO in the Civil Service working for the DHSS.
We always lived in rented accommodation and never had much money but the feeling was always (lower) middle class.
I suppose it is how one defines class.

I worked for a number of years for Phillips Electronics on security at one of their research laboratories. Because of their pension fund I was able to retire at 60, pay off the mortgage and live on my pension. Have to wait until I'm 66 for my state pension.

People often mean different things by class. I'm not sure a simplified division makes much sense. People often lead complicated lives with different signifiers.

I have returned from Iceland and invested heavily in Greggs products. Luckily, as I was leaving, who should be passing in his mini-cab? Neil Morrissey, that's who. Gave me a lift home. Tuffers . You'd better be right about the corned beef stuff, otherwise it'll be more than a soiled fiver you owe me.

I started writing a long response because that's what assumptions re: race do to me. But I really don't want to go to that place, so I've deleted it.
I'm just going to second Sheep's post.

Ah, I said "you's" instead of "you'd". Corrected it. I've got Conjunctivitis again, had it for a week or so, things are a bit blurry.

That's a shame because it would have been interesting to read. My assumption was inherently* racist/sexist because I assigned a degree of literacy and interest in a subject to being a white male. Not a good look really. *or intrinsically, not sure which.

Spent most of the day doing stuff with iPads and oculus headsets. Now heading home. Hopefully get on the BF2042 beta later. Quite peckish as I didn't really have lunch. If I'd known the train was going to be so quiet I'd have left work 10 mins earlier and grabbed a pizza.
