Hello, fellow moribund nerds.
Last night I was planning to do justice to BDT with a nice bottle of red to accompany my dinner, a sweet potato, spinach & goat cheese pie with a side of ratatouille. This was just the combination of Stuff That Happened To Be In My Fridge™ rather than the result of careful planning. The ratatouille I put through the microwave and at one point I noticed that there were just over 10 seconds left before I turned my attention elsewhere. Then, as I opened the door I noticed that the microwave was dead.
That put a dampener on the evening. The microwave is a fairly bulky family heirloom and more than 20 years old. I think what must have happened is that I cleaned its inside a few days ago and forgot to make sure that the turntable was, err, turning properly and it overheated. I guess it can be fixed, but I'm not looking forward to lugging the thing by taxi to the repair place.
Sigh.
No games as a result of this minor catastrophe. Fortunately I don't need the microwave urgently, but one thing that irritates me is that I used its clock to tell the time in the kitchen and that's now gone.

Spaghetti Bolognese. Might even get to game later as PM out for drinks and we will probably stagger in at 1 a.m., turn all lights on , drunkenly stagger about, wake me and the kids up etc...

Working from home update:
Hart to Hart (one episode). Somehow, despite being an afficionado of terrible 1970s/80s American television programmes, I have never watched an episode of this before. It was terrible. 4 stars.
ME3 LE: trying to finish this off before dinner. The Illusive Man is a real piece of work. He is properly twisting my melon. 4 stars.

A like isn't for the whole message there, Tenth Enemy. I'm 'liking' the fact that you recognise us as moribund nerds not that your microwave has croaked.
Left over chilli, garlic bread and lots of wine tonight.
I intend to blow the duvet sky high this evening!

When there's nothing in the fridge or cupboard I like to play a game I call Freezer / Microwave * Roulette. * Sorry tenthenemy, I realise this may be too soon.

I'm still hoping I can get the old microwave repaired, it's an enormous beast that also doubles as an electric oven and grill and was a retirement present for my father-in-law. He then became a top chef for TV dinners. I have fond memories of him 'doing the cooking' for the whole family and me chasing peas around my tray.

I just beat Mrs T at Trivial Pursuit. It was a close run thing.*
*Not really. Ok, it was a bit tighter than I thought.

It’s happening again.
My alarm is set for 5:30am, as I’m going to watch my brother do a 4x4 driving experience at Brands Hatch tomorrow. And there’s a party next door.
I am incredibly anxious about my ability to get a few hours of quality sleep.
We’ve had no warning this time, so it makes me wonder if this one has been planned, or if it’s being done behind their mum’s back…

It was terrible. 4 stars. Hart to Hart was a staple of my teenage years. I couldn't tell you the plot or the title of a single episode. It alternated with Simon & Simon every Friday evening. Why did no-one ever think of making a Simon & Simon: Hart to Hart crossover? Such an obvious thing in hindsight.

I don't know, what on earth is a 4x4 experience? I think it's a sex thing. Well, it's not a symmetrical all-wheel drive experience. Now that would be a sex thing.

At a banging party down Brighton way, but some weird baldy in an Amiga T-Shirt keeps peering in the window. We've called the police.

I daren’t take my headphones off for fear of hearing music and shouting.
