Morning all. Cold out, really bitter. Stuck in meetings most of the day, but did manage to book Friday off. Which hopefully means the grumpy guy in the Atari T-Shirt is stuck working on Xmas party night. I can’t stay angry with you… Here, have this lovely shepherd’s pie I made for you.

I think Massinia is a bit too modern for TenthEnemy, so it looks like a no.
Maybe something about Sargon of Akkad might go better. The ancient ruler, not the modern online prick.

Hi, I also recommend Game Pass. I know Ive mentioned it before but 'Game Share' (requires having 1 friend minimum) is also a very good way to half the costs of everything. So you just tell microsoft that the consoles are in the same house/family and then evrything thats bought digital on 1 console is available to download on the other for free. Including subscriptions like game pass/ ea access etc. My mate Andy pays the game pass sub and I get it for free. And we take turns to buy digital games that we can download to both consoles. Been doing it for at least 7 or 8 years now. Dead easy.
Lunch was thai stirfry thing from Guardian recipes, tasty.

Prime depends very much on the device you use. I found the football was constantly cutting out this week via the 4k blu ray player, but was fine on PS5. It was like the buffering was constantly not quite enough so every 30 seconds it would pause. Just swapping device solved it.
I'd like 4K Netflix, but I am squatting on my parents' subscription and they don't want to pay the extra so I am stuck with HD. For free it's pretty good, but I need to work on getting it upgraded.

Hullo.
I've just had probably the best race I've ever had on any Forza game. A point-to-point with a Ferrari 250Gt California (Ferris Bueller) and my Vanishing Point Challenger. I couldn't catch him on the corners, but at over 100mph I could just about gain ground. I spent the whole race behind him, but at the second to last corner he *ahem* had an accident. I won by 0.5 seconds. This was, of course, on the Highly Skilled setting.
That's how we do it in the big leagues, Crank.

afternoon all,
I declined our Xmas do, unsure what will cause fewer attendees. Omicron or the redundancies.
Before Covid (in print media everywhere). - why do we need Xmas work parties? - Why Xmas is so stressful. - Xmas parties and extravagant Xmas family arrangements are a bit shit aren't they? Why can't we have a simpler Xmas? - why the complex Xmas is an American thing.
Since Covid. - We desperately need 1.5 hours at a cramped pub next to a strange warhermit droning on about his podcast. We need our work Xmas do! - they had them during the war (by someone born in the 50s). - If we don't get an Xmas day with 16 members of the extended family and at least 12 separate car journeys then the Nazis basically won WW2. - Even Scrooge had a work party. Sort of. - if you don't want a busy Xmas or work do you are basically killing the Queeen.

I'm wasting my life, aren't I? Wasting? <edit>that was supposed to be a joke implying that you had already wasted your life. Absolute bollocks this is what life is all about, having fun while you can.

You'll have gathered that I trawl imgur for clips, jokes etc. - the majority of posters are American - endless fucking pictures of pets - there's even an #aww tag ffs. But the #funny tag infrequently has something genuinely amusing. There's shedloads of videos of folk simply getting injured and one particularly loathsome one where a guy chucks a firecracker at his sleeping cat. But worst of all are those that embody racist, sexist and homophobic 'jokes'. Strike rate is about 1 in 30, so it's getting more and more difficult lt to find inspiration there. This combines the worst of both ... It's still the best place to store and retrieve images for reuse, though.

Got to watch he doesn't unexpectedly call in 8 years worth of half a game pass worth of favours on you.

Way to piss on Sandy's chips there, Rolling. In other news, Cuckoo is shite, and you've gone badly wrong by watching it, and I hope the respect you have for me and my opinions ruins your future enjoyment of it. I notice Tuffers' last post was about the dangers of icy pavements and roads, and a lack of food. I miss him, may he RIP in peace.

So...get the M249 out and whack those virtual zombies, or something.

Sheep has already guessed it, in my opinion the Third Punic War is just a modern fad and it will soon go away. scamander will be the better judge on these matters. I also googled the author's goatee and ponytail and I will not let that bias me. I've always had a hard time reading "historical" novels set in Ancient Mesopotamia because usually the writing is atrocious. I prefer finding out the real story from historical documents because it tends to be much more exciting than any fiction. Judging by the samples at Jeff's place this is another case of really bad writing. I was trying to describe it, but it's probably easier to take the opening(!) sentences of the second book: Yeah, I don't think that Hilary Mantel has anything to worry about. It's very good material for a story, but that's mainly because Livy was a good writer. There's the usual problem that the author is completely unable to take himself out of the whole project and enter the minds of people of a different age and a different culture. Having said that, there seem to be some people who like this, so maybe it's something that should be in a public library? Depends on the budget.

I do like the idea of pushing your canines with your tongue leads to an imminent question.
<edit>I've just tried that, no question yet.

ShenguinI am a tolerant individual, and I respect your right to your wrong opinions, you grotesquely ugly freak. Games chat: I am on a bus and the guy in front is playing Dark Souls on the Switch. He just levelled up and left his END untouched, even though it is nowhere near 30. I feel like I should intervene but not sure. Have any of you guys ever intervened to touch a stranger's END on a bus?

What is happening with tongues and dogs? I feel like that section of Amazon books should be left well alone along with the romancing dinosaurs novels. Tories saying no kissing under the mistletoe, where is hancock when you need someone to fake cry when keeping a straight face about total hypocrisy?

We just deleted the authors email and pretended it didn't happen.
The emails from self published authors are better fun and you can tell them to do one.
