Prince Andrew should have just admitted to what he did. Perhaps with a rogueish twinkle in his eye. Child sexual abuse? Looking at recent photographs of Andrew which are all suitable for a "How it's going" meme, any attempt at rogueish twinkling is bound to cement the creepy pervert image... Was it you who advised Andrew to give an interview to the BBC? I guess I was thinking of the Fast Show character - The 13th Duke of Wybourne. I am assuming Prince Andrew slept with Viginia Giuffre. He should have just admitted to that. I don’t think the crime was that she was 17. Here anyway. Or even in New York. Though on Jeffrey Epstein’s island maybe. I’m assuming he didn’t know / think she was being paid to sleep with him. I haven’t got much basis for that, other than it seemed to be the Epstein / Maxwell MO to use such encounters to gain influence / blackmail material. |

His best defence is that so far as he was aware she was fully consenting and he was unaware of any grooming or pressure put on her. He was an incredibly attractive prince and loads of ladies wanted to sleep with him. If he occasionally let them it was barely his fault. He thought everything was above board and there were no issues. It has the merit of being plausible (up to a point) and while it doesn't present the most flattering picture of him it is difficult to prove it wrong unless there are videos of him in the lizard costume selecting 8 year olds from an orphanage. His current defence seems not to fit the known facts, which is not a good look. |

The age of consent varies. It's 18 if you transport someone across state lines, but generally 16 or 17 in each state. I'm not an expert. Do not rely on this for a legal defence. |

Prince Andrew and his feckless siblings embody everything that is wrong with the Royal Family. After a youth spent in the finest educational centres in the country or even world they all ultimately end up doing the occasional token Royal engagement before being taken by helicopter to an expensive golf course, all at the tax payers' expense.
Did he rape/assault the girl in question? Probably not. Is she after a big pay day? Almost certainly. But Andrew should have applied far more common sense in picking his acquaintances and his responses to the claims so far have either been ridiculous ("cannot sweat") or outright wrong (when he claims to have first met Epstein).
