We had a wood pigeon in our garden this morning, sitting in an area where you rarely see wood pigeons. The pm and I agreed he was acting strangely. A bit later the pm called me to say he was lying on his back and she thought he might be dead.
The pigeon was lying on his back but still breathing. The pm tried to tip him onto his front with some cardboard and he ran (in a pigeon way) off to the undergrowth. He has now gone.
I hope he’s ok.

Airbed still faulting... Chaos here - alarms every 45m; 10m to silence -waiting for engineers. All because the HS2 works probably hit a cable. The bed is perfectly okay, but its compressor knows that there was a break in power supply which requires a reset. And that needs pushing buttons in a sequence (operator says "hold for EXACTLY two seconds, then the other button* ... for 3 seconds")... *and she pauses so I release the 4th button... |

I watched Alien and Aliens recently. Alien is good, but Aliens is the real classic, absolutely fantastic film. I think along with Terminator 2 it hits that sweet spot of being released at a time when special effects were finally decent and the franchises were still fresh and relatively original. It was not the Director's cut version though, I think in that there is a sentry gun scene and also Ripley maybe has an elderly daughter she tries to connect with which helps explain her connection to Newt.
Anyhoo, I expect a cat has ripped apart Lazy's poorly pigeon by now.

Am I right in thinking it takes 17 days for the big spaceship to get to the alien planet / moon?
It can’t take too long to get there, because Newt has managed to survive in the days since the aliens appeared.
So why do the marines / crew have to go into ‘cryosleep’?
Is it just because they would otherwise be sitting around, getting bored? They could be doing reps.
