Just to be clear, I have been invited to the school. It's end of year awards and both younglings were nominated. Sort of like the Oscars, but less shit. Well we need to know if they* win or not. I'd have thought that you wouldn't need to tell us you were invited as if it was unusual. *How will you deal with one winning and the other doesn't? |

I'm Also an only child, no family upbringing, though there were the basics 'cook, clean, knit, sew, make bed (hospital corners)' I can't knit for squat though.

They were all winners. And no, thankfully not in that god awful modern day "everyone won just for taking part" way. Erm, no they didn't you fucking hippy.
Anyway, each year had about 15 or so nominations (out of about 250 in each year) who got an award. I think based on test scores, attitude, behaviour, attendance, maybe something else. There was then then a winner from each year, plus a handful of other awards (for the school as a whole) for excelling in sport, arts, engineering/science etc
Obviously, they've both been grounded for not winning a major award. Slackers.

Books I finished reading Perfume, as recommended by Dr Bones RIP. It wasn't quite what I expected. Interesting though. I'm going to have to read it in the original German to fully form an opinion. Perhaps even a deep dive into the Wikipedia page or a few user reviews on Amazon. 4 stars. Next I am going to read a collection of Cornish ghost stories I bought this afternoon. The price of the ice creams in their seaside communities should provide a rich vein of horror. Happy birthday amipal! |

I'm going to need divine intervention - it's 29c in here and the lowest external temperature will only be 19c. I doubt that it will get below 23c in here. I don't think I will be starting another NP2 game this week. Next Sunday they reckon the high will be 32c outside, which will probably translate into near on 38c, or 100f... I will have to switch off my PC to reduce heat and protect the machine. Grim. Fan on; lights off and going to attempt to sleep for a while. Treatment tomorrow morning will be unbearable - I've already told them if they are here after mid-morning they will very much regret it, as clothing will greatly increase their body temp... |
