Always copy and save the licence and installation keys. That's basic.
I had a DVD audio ripper which was great, but I didn't have the installation key and when I bought a new laptop the old program was no longer available. I could set it up, but not get it to work. I had to buy the new program I think I have the keys and passwords for all the programs I use. now.

Recently got a new laptop, and managed to find my old, actually legitimate, download of office suite from back when I was doing post grad uni thing. Wasn’t sure it would work as I couldn’t find the key, but installed it and it works fine. Must have only needed it to unlock the download.
Saves me having to give Bill Gates even more money, so I’m very happy with that.

I had a cheapo version from work, supposed to stop using it when you left, there is a limit to how many times it can be installed.

I know where my keys are. Front door, back door and car. All the keys. This is important if you want to be able to get into your home and drive your car.

All very well, Smart Arses Inc... ...but I have 4 machines all with their own licenses etc. and it's as much a question of identifying which belongs to what. I can do it all over time, and even the downloads are backed off onto the file server, but I was hoping to have the installs taken care of when Win 11 is clean loaded.

Afternoon all!
Have been along the undercliff this morning, with the boy on his bike. He’s getting good at pushing off and pedalling. A quick muck around on the beach, then a return home for him to get a haircut.
I also shouted at a van for parking on the white hazards on the local pedestrian crossing. Stupid person.
TVblog: finished the latest series of Stranger Things. I reckon it would have made more of an impact in one go, rather than spread over two “parts”. I did enjoy it, but the finale was a bit anticlimactic. 4*
And Seinfeld. The Contest episode. Absolutely brilliant.

Morning Commonwealth fans!
Any Brummies off to watch it?
OTTM, I just found an orange Twirl that was part of my Easter egg (2 orange twirls plus one chocolate egg). Brucey Bonus! Can any readers top that?

Evening pegging fans!
The sea is closer than I'd imagined! Watching big Jeffrey play dragons dogma.
More Grid leg ends, its rudimentary to say the best. Not a recommend.

I've also just tested negative for the Covid. Now that's the Real Deal.

We've got two wee guys working with us for a year.
One of them, and I shit you not, has laminated a poster.
With the post-it note that says "laminate this please {redacted}" still stuck to it.
Top troll, stoned, imbecile? All three?

Each computer has lasted me a good few years, so I’ve certainly had my moneys worth if it stops working after this.

The real question is, what on earth goes on in these scottish libraries that requires everything to be laminated?

Wasn't my note or poster.
I'm avoiding giving them stuff to do if small as it takes longer writing instructions on how/what to do than actually doing yourself sometimes.

Back in the day, the powers that be, had decided to have some posters of the forthcoming St. Pancras Eurostar connection printed. However, due to top-level fuckuppery, they submitted the proposed poster to the printers with 'Restricted' splashed across it. Said printer duly printed hundreds off. They asked me to sort out some reprints sans 'restricted' as they couldn't have them on the wall like that. I did not, and it was never mentioned again.
It's a boring story, I know. But think of the cash I saved the taxpayer.
I haven't got a scooby why it was restricted.
Anyway, that's my two cents.

It’s a bit small, won’t it just get swallowed and crushed by the machine?

Talking of idiots I should not be allowed out.
I went to Tesco to get a new toaster.
While there I spotted Chimay white at £2 a bottle. I bought some of this. Also restocked on Pauaner Hell.
Having done this I remembered it was Lidl Beer Fest so I went to have a look. They had the Piraat/Gulden Draak box in at £11.99 for 6, so I bought some of those. Also 4 cans of Luminous Nights.
On the plus side I did remember to get the toaster.
Four stars
Also some fuel. can now get to Luton (and back) on Saturday rather than 2 miles short of Corley Services. I noticed the price per itre has fallen recently. Though to fill the tank seemed suspiciously expensive still.

www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2022/jul/28/20-reasons-to-love-birmingham-commonwealth-games Birmingham City versus Aston Villa is one of the most intense rivalries in the country, but for the most part the fans know where to draw the line. The rivalry is a world away from the religious intolerance of Glasgow or the tired banter of Manchester. Jonathan Liew called it right when he said: “The second city derby is one perhaps best characterised by a glorious, gleeful pettiness.”That is amazing. We aren't religious bigots or Mancs this is true. I wouldn't accuse the worst DVB of being a Manc. On the other hand I don't think they have ever actually been to a Blues-V**** game or better a V**** Blues game. Certainly not as a an away fan I can confidently say there will be significant violence at the next Derby - especially if it is at St Andrews. There is ill feeling brewing again. What they think of as 'gleeful pettiness' we see as them being spiteful shitheads. There is no goodwill from our side
