It is true that, if the Conservatives said they were going to build a 200 foot flag pole with a Union Jack (flag) on it, then Kier Starmer’s take would be that building a 200 foot flagpole would be extremely irresponsible. Labour would build a 150 foot one instead.
Someone said that to me once and I chortled. Though actually, maybe it doesn’t make a lot of sense because flagpoles aren’t that expensive.

Just - for the record - I’m not a raging Corybynista. I didn’t think he was really the best person for the job. But it’s harsh to see a decent person utterly vilified by the leadership of his own party.

Surely sitting next to Corbyn would be personally uncomfortable for Starmer. It would be sitting next to an ex who you had gained custody of the kids from and the house by providing evidence about them that you both knew wasn't true. Jeremy Corby wasn't a good leader, but on a personal level he is a nice person. Starmer has made his leadership partly by shitting on Corbyn. While this may have been the right decision politically on a personal level it has to be a bit awkward.
what s the conversation going to be? "Hi Jeremy, the Parliamentary Labour Party misses you." "Well Keir that's because you kicked me out to support your career"
With Piers it will be much easier. They can both laugh at Red Jez in the corner.

Who cares who Starmer wants to watch the footy with, a Starmer led Labour government would be considerably better than anything the Tories would offer. The right wing press tried the same thing with Ed Milliband, focusing on his supposed personality rather than his policies. I will tell you now, that virtually every senior minister on either bench are utter boring twats, but what does it matter? It is more his policies (or lack of) that get me. The not opposing the government overriding the Scottish trans thing the other day, his lack of support for the strikes, not opposing the protest bill months ago. He’s good at pointing out the government being shit, but he doesn’t seem to do all that much opposing when it counts. Anyway, double maths in a bit.
The trans thing is pure politics from Starmer - he agrees with the policy but wants to be seen to oppose Sturgeon because that plays well with people he wants to vote for him. 18/20 Scottish Labour MSPs voted for the bill. There was more opposition to it from SNP MSPs than Labour, and even a few Tories voted for it. Not surprisingly, the Labour MSPs are not happy at being thrown under the bus by KS, and have said as much.
Not that it matters, as it's been inevitably reported in the G and other respected organs as being all about Sturgeon picking a fight for ulterior motives. This despite the fact that it was only pushed up the agenda because it's a priority for the G's favourite party the Greens, who insisted on it as part of the coalition agreement with the SNP, and that the fight was picked by Sunak.
I don't know if this makes Starmer clever or gutless. At this point I don't really care as I just want rid of the Tories asap.
Also, at any football match you have at least a 50% of sitting next to an absolute weapon whether you know their name or not. Closer to 100% at I***x.

I sit next to Shenguin at home (and some away) games. Definitely a 100% chance, maybe 110% .

Morning all PM has spent the night in hospital, after having the operation yesterday. She’s in a lot of pain, they had to put a drain in as they nicked something they shouldn’t while they were in there. She might be coming home today, but it’s possible it might be another day. Best of luck to you and your PM...

"Keir Starmer’s willingness to throw Jeremy Corbyn under the bus, then to go over and keep stomping on his body, just has me thinking he’s a wrong’un." As far as I am concerned Corbyn and Momentum are an absolute liability for the Labour party, even now. Which is why Smarmy Smith is keeping him suppressed... lazybones considers...

I love Lazybones idea as Starmer as some kind of Fred Elliot character. "A say, a say, a say, Angie"
But fuck me, what an idiot. Kier, not Lazybones.
Kier, would you like to sit next to Jeremy Corbyn or the vile scumbag who hacked into the personal phones of relatives of a murdered school girl for personal gain?
Morning!
Re-started TLOU2 last night.
OTTM, no.

I might be wrong but I think he's also one of those men who is obsessed with Meghan.

I cannot forget Piers Morgan bashfully handing an Arsenal top to Donald Trump, calling him ‘Mr President’ and asking him if he could be their manager.

Why would you pay attention to Piers Morgan? he was obviously a slimy arsehole when he first appeared in the public domain 25+ years ago I don't read the Sun or the Mirror and I'm not interested in the tabloid take on life. I have no interest in his opinions and I wouldn't watch him on TV. Someone to be ignored.
There are a lot in a similar ilk. I'm sure it is very profitable for them.
