A friend reminded me today why my brief foray into management should never be repeated. About 10 years ago I managed a team of 6 and in no time one of them was off work for months due to "stress".
Then a busy time came along and the team were under pressure, at this point another team member was found crying in the toilets. My boss arranged a hasty meeting with me and asked me what I was going to do, to which I suggested putting a sign up in the toilets stating "no crying".
I gave up managing shortly after that.
