"turn up on time and do your job properly" To be fair that's a hell of an ask

"turn up on time and do your job properly" To be fair that's a hell of an ask The advantage of working from home is you literally can't be late for work. So we are 50% of the way there to start with. So long as you are able to answer the phone by 10 am or respond to emails by lunchtime(ish) the actual state you are in is not an issue. Just avoid video calls.

Feel like shit this morning, as had the old doggy put to sleep yesterday, and then dived into a bottle of vodka as soon as the vets had left. Probably not my wisest move. Somehow I don’t think I’m going to be very productive working from home without the little smelly fur bag snoring at my feet. Small comfort she went on the same day as Paul o Grady’s funeral, so she will be in good company wherever her spirit went. There might be times for games, and OTTM later. Sorry to hear this. Ahhh bad news…

Crawling into a bottle of spirits is an excellent response to tragedy, as long as you don't stay in there too long. Awful news, hope you're bearing up

So what is the optimum time period for drinking a bottle of spirits after bad news? Asking for a friend

Also should you have gone to the pub and had a few beers before demolishing the spirits?
Obviously sometimes the bad news might be just that the pub is now closing for the evening. That's enough to drive a man to drink.
My general advice would be if you are drinking 8 pints the eighth pint should not be gin.

Hopefully Raab's replacement will look at what happened to Dom and chalk it up to experience.

After last year's Platty Jubes and the Statty Funes, everyone got their bunting ready for the Corry Nates?

Hopefully Raab's replacement will look at what happened to Dom and chalk it up to experience. I was thinking he can at least draw an outline around the bodies at the crime scene. Justice Secretary is not bad but he should really be policing minister.

hi
I don’t know about drinking after bad news.
I personally think wait 24 hours. Ride out the storm in a sober fashion. Then hit the drink.
Today
Has been ok (sort of). I had an appraisal meeting this morning. It was held a bit early so I bought two cups of coffee and drank them one after the other. It worked well. Kind of. I expounded at length about my hopes and dreams. I spooled out managerial jargon. The words lined up as coherent sentences. But then it span out of control and I couldn’t stop talking. I turned the car off the road and drove it into the desert ...
Not much else going on …

Oh. Are the digs about bullying in this place aimed at me?
Sorry. My bad. I'm just lashing out as I'm a bastard and I can.

Steve Lamacq just played The First Big Weekend by Arab Strap. Not heard that in a while. The Arches RIP.
Fish and chips from the freezer for dinner with carrots and broccoli.
Some Gran Turismo later.

The PM has been to the office today so has collected an Indian feast from Waitrose (oooh lah de dah) for tonight's tucker. I'm having my favourite, their Fiery Chicken Curry - a supermarket curry that is actually damn hot! With naans and vegetable sides, samosas etc.
