www.richersounds.com/denon-dm41-dab-silver.htmlFor the kitchen, where I didn't have a way of listening to CDs, which was really starting to annoy me. It was all like fucking Bluetooth this and fucking stream that, when I just want to listen to an album or a symphony or whatever, and I don't have time to rip all my CDs and blah blah blah. My local occasionally has Summer Lightning on as a guest ale, and I get over-excited whenever it does. Last night has a certain hazy quality to it, but I seem to still be alive this morning.

When I'm in Richer Sounds I always pick up a 6 pack of blank C-90s.

I had looked at that Denon for the childs room. Didn't get it in the end, mainly as she's apparently happier listening to music via an iPad speaker. The DNA test is pending.

Morning Super Soppers!
Waiting on a Tesco delivery. Then I'm going to make that classic cooling mid-summer meal of cottage pie. To be served with broccoli and carrots.
TV, Last night I watched Quadrophenia. I don't wanna be the same as everybody else. That's why I'm a Mod, see?
No games.
OTTM, none.

Just cut the grass and the hedge out the front. Did part of the hedge at the back but I need a longer extension to do the rest.
There's a kids plastic house I want rid of as well that's in the way.
It needs "hit by lightning" as the child is too old/big for it but doesn't want rid of. I'd have been telt at her age - but apparently you're not allowed to upset children nowadays.
Covid, or Brexit or article 12 of the UNCRC or somesuch.
Sitting for 5 mins having a can of sprite before I tackle dinner.
Fillums. We watched part of They Cloned Tyrone.
Games. A bit of the Crew drivey game beta.

Someone I used to knows dad owned a flat/house that was *that* lane in Quadrophenia.
Someone getting shagged was not an uncommon sight as he went to work / came home late etc...

I'm in charge of cyber security -- I'm kind of a big deal -- and after a couple of random hacking attempts on Friday night, today I've set up a firewall on the NAS I use for the back-ups. I have some pretty sweet IT skills.
Does anyone know how to access a NAS that has a firewall that won't let anything through?

Shenguin can vom on it next time he has Summer Lightning if that helps. Though you the child might find that upsetting.

So Oppenheimer was pretty good.
Watching it though … I couldn’t help but think ‘was the atom bomb engineered?’ Were both the bombs over-engineered? The first and second bomb, and the test bomb?
I mean … surely - once you know how much uranium or plutonium you need to reach critical mass, can’t you get the separate amounts together with mechanics - like springs and cogs?
Explosives to drive it all together seems to be over-egging the pudding.

Maybe that’s why the U.S. government were on Oppenheimer’s case. He was stretching out the job.

It will reach a critical mass if you just get enough 20% or so enriched uranium or plutonium. This will start the chain reaction, but won't cause a fission explosion. The accident at Chernobyl was a conventional explosion which released a large amount of radioactive material. You can tell it wasn't a nuclear explosion as the site still exists..
To get explosive or implosive fission or fusion you have to use explosives They slam two or more sub critical pieces together at very high speed. This breaks the chemical bonds on the surface of the uranium and the atoms get closer together than they would in a reactor. The result is an exothermic event. In a bomb only about 4% of the fissile material forms part of the atomic reaction. The rest is vaporized and spread over the surrounding area.
The Tsar bomba 50 Megaton device was particularly dangerous as approximately twice as much material was involved in the nuclear explosion as expected. So it functioned as a 100MT bomb in its only test. And scared everyone into signing a test ban treaty.
If you have enough highly enriched fissile material a bomb is fairly straightforward to make. Create central chamber with several entrances. Pack these with sub critical mass bomb material. Place explosives outside the material. Make sure the explosions force the material into the core at very high speed. Set all the explosives off simultaneously. The difficulties are: 1 obtaining the material. 2 keeping it and you safe 3 ensuring the trigger works properly. 4 finding somewhere to set bomb off, without injuring or killing yourself. 5 Getting away with it.

The major difficulty Elon would have is obtaining sufficient high grade plutonium or uranium. He could easily afford the bomb and Space X has enough fuel to set the conventional explosives. It wouldn't be difficult to alter a Space X rocket to deliver a bomb. My guess is there are a few companies involved in producing rockets where the amount and quality of potentially fissile material they have is closely watched.
