In other news, faceless jnr beat the final boss in Tears of the Kingdom last night. As I haven't done so yet, I'm now being called a n00b. I've been gaming since the 1980's, and yet I'm being called a n00b by a child. A new low Noob

Morning
Made a chilli last night. The fam blud had theirs with rice (BORING!). I went maverick and had a bowl of chilli with a side of 6 (SIX) hash browns, tremendous for DUNKING. Loads of chilli left for tonight.
Also, for some reason YouTube told me to watch an old episode of the 90s HIT COMEDY called Game On, starring Samantha Janus. It's, erm, of its time. So I watched three episodes.
'Martin you ginger tosser!'

My irritating work colleague has recently discovered the word 'pertaining'. Earlier this morning I got this message: "Hi, can you give me a call pertaining to an email I've forwarded you, pertaining to a conversation I've had with someone pertaining to a query?" Have you considered shooting them?

Oh, I now see that the TNG reference went far far over my head and its Starfield sheep was talking about. I might well pre-order that to get pumped for a few weeks.
I was talking about Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI It was TES VI I called Skyrim TNG. This seems to have confused everyone except me. Surprisingly this wasn't actually my intention. I can sort of see that using TNG to describe the fantasy game while also discussing a Sci-Fi game might have made some of you switch your brains into off mode. Next time IF I want everyone to understand I will explain things better.

Tids - describe the lad's flat in detail. Luxuriously carpeted throughout in what appears to be 'Fuzzy Felt' with a small laptop on the floor hooked up to an amp&speakers. Minimalist is how I would describe it, sparse furniture and his gf sat on the end of a faux leather sofa pissing about on a smartphone. No TV.
If he came in here, he would be blown away.

Sounds pretty standard for today's youth. Although typically there would also be a huge 4k telly and when the lads are around they would all fight over who gets to post bullshit clips on it. All while having their own laptops in front of them.

Starfield pre-load info (no - not knocking back vodkas in your living room before hitting the clubs).
On Wednesday, Microsoft and Bethesda confirmed that Starfield will be available for preload on Xbox Series X (and S) first, starting on Thursday, Aug. 17. On Xbox platforms, Starfield weighs in at approximately 125 GB. That’s almost a third of the usable storage space on an Xbox Series S SSD, so you may want to look into a storage expansion card for your Xbox if you’re short on space.
Starfield on PC will be available to preload starting Aug. 30. That version of the game will eat up about 140 GB of storage space, according to the game’s listing on Xbox.com. The game’s system requirements as listed on Steam indicate a 125 GB download, though. Here’s a look at what you’ll need to play the PC version of Starfield:

I will not be buying Xbox plus Starfield for a while.
The Xbox memory situation is even worse than PS5.
I mean it is better at 1TB vs 866 GB
But 1Tb of expansion is £150 or £190. There are only two choices.
For PS5 I was able to get a 4TB card for £240. That is £60 a TB which is expensive, but not £150 a TB.
Also you can't get a bigger than 1TB expansion card for Xbox.
I just think that is really poor. I had an 8TB HD for PS3 10 years ago when games were smaller. You should be able to get a 20 or 40 TB card by now for a reasonable price. The PS5 situation is poor. Locked at 4Tb of SSD when both Ps3 & Ps4 had 8tB (admittedly you can add 8 TB of Ps4 games, but it's not the same) The Xbox X situation just feels shoddy.
I want to have my games which i have paid for downloaded and ready to play on the console. I don't want to have to wait for hours to download or install a game. That's a bit wank.

There are only so many games that one won't play.

How many games does one need to be available? There are only so many games that one won't play. All the games I own. Which is significantly more than the original PS5 memory allows. You get about 500 GB you can use after allowing for needing 100GB free to actually download anything. Effectively it's 6 or 7 games maximum. I understand what you are saying in that I don't play 6 or 7 games more or less simultaneously. But if I have to wait overnight to play GTAV or Cyberpunk or GT7 or anything else big the chances are I'll never play it. I have never been someone who buys a game, completes it, gets rid of it. It often takes me a while to decide to complete a game. But I do go back to many of them. For example I have barely started Elden Ring. It didn't quite grab me at the time, but I expect to go back and complete it when the DLC is out. I am also working my way slowly through Diablo 4 and Returnal at the moment as well as playing Fortnite. Add in a bit of GT7 every few weeks and the original HD would be nearly full. I keep meaning to go back to Metro Last Light as well. It was different when games played from discs. There was no storage issue on PS2. But now any game you want to play requires a full install. Which means 500GB of useable memory is not much if some games are 100GB+ each.

I think I'd quite like to be trapped on a Scottish oil rig in the 1970s in Scotland, with an unknowable horror.
