We’ve got some Pukka Pies in the freezer. No Smash but we do have some McCain Home Fries.
I would like to get some Smash. We have got some Bisto.

How to do guys make your gravy? I like to fry an onion and just bung some water and gravy granules (usually Bisto) in with it.
I think there's room to jazz it up.

I would just make the Bisto. Then in an ideal situation I’d sieve the Bisto for extra smoothness.

Onion and diced mushrooms fried in butter, add a little flour, cook that thru, chuck in a gravy pot or granules, , add hot water and a little Worcester sauce.

Fry onion and spices in butter, add a glass of wine and reduce down, drink the rest of the bottle, add water and gravy granules to suit.
God, I'm thirsty for some gravy right now.

I am unsurprised Shenguin adds gravy granules to his wine. The water is a bit of a surprise.

I tried for a long time to make an acceptable vegetarian gravy. Red wine, stock, onions, Marmite … I was never able to do it.

I make gravy the old fashioned traditional way.
Oxo, cornflour, cold water to suspend cornflour. Hot water to add volume. Bring it to the boil on the hob Can add juice from meat and or onion if required or available. Or make it in a pan that has bits in it.
On Saturday I cooked Boeuf Bourguignon (though I used rioja). The jus contained onion, garlic, black pepper wine, carrots onions, juice from the stewing steak, soy sauce, tabasco, herbs. Slow cooked for 7.5 hours. It was pretty good, though maybe I could have thickened the jus more at the end.
Four stars

Mixture of gravy powder and gravy granules along with horseradish sauce or mint sauce mixed in. Tried mixing in cranberry sauce but didn't like the result. The granules I feel give it a bit more flavour.

Added mint sauce mainly for a roast. Horseradish goes with most things.

Morning Susan.
Snowmageddon yet to materialise within the M25 safe zone. Presumably the defence grid of space lasers is shooting down the snowflakes.
I was hoping the trains would be bolloxed so I didn't have to go into the office tomorrow. A poor showing.

Here's a heart warming mini documentary about kids smoking human bones in Sierra Leone.
I expect this will catch on in a Glaswegian council estate soon.

When I was young and people used talcum powder my grandad told me it was made from ground up human bones. I probably believed this for years. Lord only knows what I thought when I saw people sprinkling talc on themselves.
