I don't have a 4k TV. I doubt we'll get one soon. They're too big for Mrs Cranks liking. Possibly a 40" if I'm lucky at some point. Grumble. Grumble. Did not know the iPlayer apps on them were already 4k. What else do they show in 4k? Just sporting events?

Home made pizza for dinner, other half wanted salad as well, can anyone tell me the point of lettuce?

It depends on the lettuce, but it can serve various functions: 1) Decoration and colouration for a meal. 2) Added texture, especially with crisp lettuces. 3) Added taste, especially in leafier and darker varieties. 4) A relatively minor source of fibre and various vitamins. Most lettuces would provide enough vitamin C in a few leaves daily to ward off scurvy in an otherwise healthy adult human. 5) In large quantities lettuce can have a somatic effect. 6) It can have a psychological effect of giving a healthier facade to a meal overwhelmingly dominated by processed food with high levels of salt, sugar and simple carbohydrates, and fats. 7) In heavier meals, it can also serve as a palate cleanser.

Wasn't expecting a considered reply, wonders never cease, though somatic got me confused, which do you mean: Somatic (biology), referring to the cells of the body in contrast to the germ line cells Somatic nervous system, the portion of the vertebrate nervous system which regulates voluntary movements of the body Somatics, a group of alternative medicine approaches, experiential movement disciplines, and dance techniques Somatic theory, a model of human social behavior

I meant soporific, but I picked the wrong word, because I'm not as clever as I think I am. I'm given to understand that lettuce can induce lethargy and sleepiness if eaten in large quantities. Edit: I mean, I blame autocorrect and wine.

To be fair to your error no one is as clever as you think you are.

I've read the word lettuce so many times in the last couple of minutes it's beginning to lose all meaning.

In ancient Sumerian love lyrics lettuce symbolises sexual attractiveness. The highest compliment you can pay your lover is to address them like this: Also, lettuce is nice with pizza. And sexy.

I think the only stuff so far has been a Blue Planet trailer, the FA cup final and now the World Cup. It’s done well though, BT’s 4K football has the ball dissapearing.
