Subs at half time would have given us a chance That can't be right - Shearer explained afterwards that Clarke has done a brilliant job with what he has, that the players are not up to it, and that the clubs in Scotland have to take a look at themselves and take the blame (for whatever 'it' is). I expect Southgate will be similarly exonerated if England disappoint. |

I'd still keep Clarke if the alternative is Moyes, who agreed with all of Big Al's insights and will be like a second Strachan. Clarke just needs a plan B instead of hammering plan A come what may.

His entire career is based on a 12 game purple patch for Forest which happened to coincide with the first 12 games of his career. Big Sam played like peak Sir Harold for about 4 months up here, after being shite for the first 18 months. Then at the end of the 4 months it was as if he suddenly remembered he was was shite.
