Tuffers food review:
Not great, but then they only cost a quid. Only managed two. Crispy pancake part was ok, filling was mostly just a thick dark gloop. 4*

Tuffers food review: Not great, but then they only cost a quid. Only managed two. Crispy pancake part was ok, filling was mostly just a thick dark gloop. 4* 50p for lunch. I am fairly sure that when I went to secondary school for the first term I had vouchers to pay for lunch. You could either pay cash or use a voucher. The school encouraged vouchers as you couldn't spend them elsewhere and they were more 'secure' than cash. Mostly I think so you couldn't spend the money elsewhere. I am reasonably certain they were 60p per day back in 1984. This got you a hot meal and pudding of your choice or a variety of sandwiches/ salads etc. It also gave my parents the confidence their son was eating properly. I switched to cash after the first term. I could spend less than 60p by not having a full lunch or could go elsewhere. It was about this time I started going to HMV and Hudsons bookshop on a slightly too regular basis.

We also had Dinner Tickets. Monday morning ritual of queueing to hand over 50p for 5 brown tickets which entitled you to a weeks worth of 'hot stodge of the day'
For the same price you could go to the local stationers and buy a roll of 100 identical brown tickets over the counter. The school cafeteria never checked the serial number to see if they were from the 'official' supplies. Even at the time the system seemed wide open to abuse.

We had dinner tickets, the point was to stop kids not having lunch and to let those less fortunate not stand out.
Like School uniforms it seems to me a reasonable solution.
How does it work now?

Pretty sure he had a Kia before the VW.
[EDIT] Had a Golf as a loan car whilst the Duracells were being replaced on his ID3.

Amipal is not wandering around Glasgow Central blocking access to trains and then when you get on a train blocking access to seats with rucksacks, golf umbrellas etc as he's been to the open at Troon. I'd have recognised him.
