Apparently there's social media chat about immigration protests in Glasgow tomorrow.
Fantastic. The PM's Glasgow office looks onto George Square and they've all been warned. Thankfully she's school based and so doesn't work in it anymore.

It’s been about 4 days now, and I’m still pondering how to say that i really fancy the Dutch men’s rowers cox, without it sounding all kinds of wrong. You've misspelt cocks.

Interesting. A female cox can win a men's Olympic medal.
And presumably if women rowers have a male cox he can win a women's medal.
Edit: Henry Fieldman did this yesterday. Gold in women'coxed 8. To go with gold in men's coxed 8 from Tokyo.

Same rules seem to apply in the Women's boxing.

FFS.
I’m on day 2 of 2 weeks leave. I’ve just been watsapped by a junior manager saying my out-of-office message might cause offence, and can I change it.
Hmmm. Decisions…

"i really fancy the Dutch men’s rowers cox"
Could be construed as an offensive out of office message.

Excluding fast people from running, tall people from basketball, bendy people from gymnastics? The problem is notions of fairness are somewhat arbitrary and subject to the mores and technology of the day. What appears defensible now may look awful in a few years. For most events being taller and having a more masculine physiology is a big advantage. Men or women with naturally highee testosterone levels tend to do better in sports. There aee also all sorts of genetic variations that affect people. I expect that those variations which tend to produce 'male' traits are much higher infemale athletes than in the general population. That is excluding DSD issues. It seems to me that it is incredibly difficult for female athletes with significant DSD. That is XXY or similar. There is no element of choice and the issue is often not known. I'm uncomfortable with simply excluding them from sport. I don't think it is at all easy. I'm also uncomfortable at excluding trans people by deafault.I do not know what the answer is, excpt that i am absolutely unconvinced by arbitrary claims of fairness.

Each medal contains details of the event. So Fieldman will have an Olympic gold medal inscribed women's coxed eights and one inscribed men's coxed eights. I suspect you were just being a cox about it though.

I am yes. I looked it upto make sure. I was fairly certain of it anyway. Event details: The sport for which the medal has been awarded should be written on the medal. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic_medal
