I'm watching the Day of the Jackal TV series. It's extremely boring. The big twist seems to be that assassins have families too, and we need to be reminded every 5 minutes as if they were Tom Daly or something.

Hello all!
Today has felt very much a TV day.
Maid Marion and Her Merry Men DVDs popped through the letterbox this morning, so watched two episodes of that after lunch.
Then despite my son’s protestations, we watched The Rocketeer whilst eating pizza. Turned out he loved it.
And once he was in bed, PM and I watched Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning: Part One on Paramount+. Great stunts, brilliant set-pieces, too long, and a bit po-faced. 4*

Day of the Jackal review pt 2
The plot of this show (not a spoiler) is that MI6 are on the trail of the Jackal, who has killed a major German politician and is known to be after other high profile targets.
Yet there seems to be only one agent in MI6 working on this, using her personal contacts to advance the case. Every half hour or so she meets with her two bosses, who sit in an office and sternly admonish her that she is not getting results and needs to get the case closed. Then she goes back to her desk and thinks about her next move, alone. Then she falls out with her family because police people have families too, who are unable to accept that catching an international assassin might involve missing an evening meal sometimes.
It's like one of the weaker series of Dempsey and Makepeace, except with worse acting and enormous amounts of money spent on cast, locations and soundtrack.
The more I think about it, the angrier it makes me.
4 stars, looking forward to ep 3 tonight.

What’s happening?
I am in a bed in Utrecht, drinking a cup of tea.
We saw some bands yesterday. One of them was incredible. They were called HYPER GAL. There were only two people in the band - a singer and a drummer - but the drummer also played a keyboard and had some pedals so she could make all of the music. Incredible.
We saw some other bands too ... On one stage there was a woman in a zebra-print lycra body suit and chimpanzee mask, dancing. After a while she took the chimpanzee mask off, then a minute or so later she took the body suit off too. She had no clothes on. I kept thinking of the face of Sid the Sexist ...
We saw a man fell off his bike in the early hours of the morning. I think he had had a bit to drink and had just purchased a fast-food meal. He shakily cycled off as if nothing had happened, but his face was covered with mayonnaise.
That was it really. That was my day. Pretty good on balance.
