I moved at one time and we were parked up outside the house with the removal van at 12.00 waiting for the money's to exchange so the keys could be handed over. Come 4pm we were still sat outside. Turns out the person who should have pressed the button to make all the money exchanges happen hadn't done it. The estate agent said she couldn't give the keys to us as the exchange hadn't properly happened and we couldn't go in until the following day when the money's transferred. The removal people said they needed the lorry for the next day and that we would need to arrange overnight storage of everything on the van or unload it in the front garden. A neighbour came out and said that the old lady who had lived there had given her a spare key which she still had. It was a very stressful day I'm still thankful to that neighbour for having that key.
