I see that Fortnite correspondent Keef is at it again at The Other Place. Yesterday I came across a Eurogamer article on the recent UK sales chart, with particular attention to the two new releases Smash Bros (did well) and Just Cause 4 (not so much). (Neither game has had a Guardian review so far. I'm beginning to wonder whether Keza has the same problem as editors of academic journals, where people receive expensive academic books for reviews and need to be coaxed into delivering the review, sometimes several years behind schedule. Says Mark Twain: "I am not the editor of a newspaper and shall always try to do right and be good so that God will not make me one.") tenthenemyI am really surprised about how well smash Bros has done. Guess the 4 devoted Nintendo directs has worked. Mind you I bought it and had no intention of doing so, it is bloody good though. Mario kart 8 and this really do feel like the pinnacle of their respective series.

Yesterday I was also watching a "Did you know gaming" episode on Sakurai, making me nostalgic for Kirby's Dreamland (which I have these days on the 3DS) and making me cry because I always cry when someone mentions Iwata. (Excuse me while I have a little cry now.) Edit: The point is that his philosophy and biography explain why Smash Bros is so successful. |

I'm in favour of a box brawl, although at the moment I'm just button mashing. Still fun. Although I'm trying very hard to use my limited gaming time to conclude the Octolings Travel Show. Now on Therion's final chapter. In other news, on the occasion of a family meal at the weekend I expanded my culinary horizon by trying for the first time a sweet dish made with durian. Couldn't see what all the fuss is about, found it to have shades of overripe banana, but not bad either. I had first come across durian in Animal Crossing where it's one of the exotic fruits one can grow and eat. No mention of the notorious onslaught on the olfactory senses. My sister-in-law then told the story of how she and a friend were getting into a taxi in the Philippines after the friend had bought a durian. The taxi driver's reaction was clear and concise: " You have a durian! GET OUT!!!!!" I also like this sign from the Singapore underground  |

The wife and I wondered what they were whilst we were in Singapore, as the signs were everywhere. I was sure it was some kind of weapon. A quick google once back at the hotel (also a durian free zone) set us straight, as well as curious.

Quiet in here today.
I've got my Christmas jumper on for the first time this year as I'm going for drinks with the Japanese class after the last lesson tonight.
It's a 6 year old new look number with santas all the way round. Each santa originally had a mini pom pom attached to his hat, but the cats have removed a few of those...

Funny, I hadn't seen that comment before you mentioned it (I usually sort by oldest), but I thought it not unreasonable, they just wanted to say that they watched their housemates at uni playing it and played later Zelda games. I had the day off work today to look after the kid. Been pretty hectic looking after that little guy.
I do recommend the Xbox game pass if you have the time, I think the big console exclusives like Forza and that sailing ship game went straight on to game pass on release day. I don't have the pass myself as I just don't have the time for all those games.
