Idiosyncratic cars are the best. I had a car that would pop out of second. If you held the stick in there it worked fine. So did the other gears. Turns out second is not that important as gears go.

How much will a bag of onions and a lemon be at my local convenience store? I have forgotten my bank card and need to pick up some supplies on the way home?

Old cars in the 80s and 90s used to have ice cream cartons in the footwell. Rotted seals are expensive to replace and it can be difficult to tell which one is causing the drip. Catching the drips keeps you dry and the carpet unrotted. You also needed 2ps to hold the choke out at the right point. I was a big fan of wheel wobble as well. Nothing like a car juddering to concentrate the driver.
Modern cars are too damned comfortable and reliable*.

Gears are overrated. * * Probably. I don't ** drive. ** Can't. *** *** Well, I think I can, but those pen pushers in the DVLA (DVSA?) didn't agree.

Apparently running over the chap carrying the red flag in front of your horseless carriage is considered bad form.

Just the one lawn, actually. Too small to mow as well, I have to use a strimmer. My neighbour (in London) was preparing for a visit from his landlord. So he used (I kid you not), a pair of scissors to try and cut his front lawn. After a few hours of chockling I lent him my lawnmower. I am a caring and considerate neighbour.

To be fair, the post probably slipped on black ice, but still, a damned cheeky move. I'd only had it 2 weeks. Great story etc..

Tell us about Aachen. What cultural delights did you experience? What does your beer loadout consist of? How many Germans did you apologise to about Brexit? Spare no detail.
