It’s really quite convenient timing as far as I’m concerned. Far enough away from skiing and after an early autumn holiday. All this late March business was simply inconsiderate.
I only hope it gives sufficient time to deliver a substantial tax bill to Rees Mogg.

The Asp was a bit 1980’s Vauxhall. So.. it had a massive ashtray.

OTTM: Assange has been arrested by the Met 5-0

From the Guardian story...
Ecuador’s President Lenin Moreno has issued a video explaining his decision to withdraw Julian Assange’s asylum status after seven years. Moreno complained about Assange’s behaviour and accused him of being involved in “interfering in internal affairs of other states” while in the embassy.
He said the asylum of Assange “is unsustainable and no longer viable” because he had repeatedly violated “clear cut provisions of the conventions of on diplomatic asylum”, citing the recent leak of Vatican documents by Wikileaks.
The statement continued:
“The patience of Ecuador has reached its limit on the behaviour of Mr Assange. He installed electronic and distortion equipment not allowed. He blocked the security cameras of the Ecuadorian mission in London. He has confronted and mistreated guards. He had accessed the security files of our embassy without permission. He claimed to be isolated and rejected the internet connection offered by the embassy and yet he had a mobile phone with which he communicated with the outside world.
“While Ecuador upheld the generous conditions of his asylum, Mr Assange legally challenged in three difference instances the legality of the protocol. In all cases the relevant judicial authorities have validated Ecuador’s position in line with our strong commitment to human rights and international law.
“I requested Great Britain to guarantee that Mr Assange would not be extradited to a country where he could face torture or the death penalty. The British government has confirmed it in writing, in accordance with its own rules.
“Finally, two days ago, Wikileaks, Mr Assange’s allied organisation, threatened the government of Ecuador. My government has nothing to fear and does not act under threats. Ecuador is guided by the principles of law, complies with international law and protects the interests of Ecuadorians.”

In reality, getting Assange arrested was the only way to clean his room and throw out all those pizza boxes.

Spaceblog.... it goes on....
I haven't tried any of the newer ships, as came back after a year long hiatus in January just in time for DW2. Originally a new years resolution to make the trip to Sag A*, I heard about DW2 and signed up, but didn't have time to plan a complete new build so did some hasty upgrades/downgrades to my 1980's Vauxhall AspX, the 'Far Kinaider'
Coriolis link might work, for the space nerds.
EDSM listed 7558 participants, which is roughly 50% of the total on the official roster. Of those 50%, about 1 in 5 starters has reported in at waypoint 10 last weekend. 2769 have officially died en-route, and 962 have self destructed. DW2 has been running 87 days, and is scheduled to run for another 63 days..... which when you think we are about two thirds of the way through the outbound trip, and still have the whole return trip to do, means we are either going to have to up the pace, or do some kind of Brexit deal and get an extension.
My travel map is below - bottom right was WP1 on 13th Jan. I'm currently on the end of the thin red line (of madness) about 1000 ly out from wp10. Top left is 'Beagle Point'.... the furthest reachable point from the start, and on the far side of a huge expanse of the galaxy known as 'The Abyss'
Amazingly I'm still fairly intact. Self repair AMFU and limpets are keeping me going through the dings and dents of bodged landings and planetary shenanigans, and my unrepairable power plant is still at 98%. Interestingly, the paint on my ship has almost completely eroded away, which is a great look, however my windscreen is filthy, and I have no wipers.
When (if) I make it back to the bubble, I plan to sell all my data at the first Imperial outpost I can find, and hopefully gain enough brownie points to be able to be allowed to buy a clipper, as they do look nice. There are several Krait Phantoms out here as well, which look good, and being kind of pancake looking, are great for dicking around with in an SRV as you can hop on their backs and rodeo around. Bumped in to someone in a blood-red/black zebra striped Beluga the other day. That certainly made a change after 3 months sitting in a beige Vauxhall

Freedom, openness, and transparency are cornerstones of democracy. On the other hand, Assange does look and act like a weirdo, and the whole sex thing is a bit yuck. I dunno, maybe see if the French Embassy could look after him for 6 months while we work out what to do about him?

That’s a magnificent ED WoT. Four stars.
My Asp is called “Rick Aspley” which I remain very proud of. I might rename the current one Clip Richards. Don’t know why I didn’t think of that sooner.
Obviously a Kraity Perry is going to be bought when I get back to the bubble in about 12 months.
I hadn’t considered windscreen degradation. I must check my canopy stats.
