Sorry if you've covered this before melv, but what happens with these models in the end? Are they used to create landscapes for battle scenes?

Successful evening. Another episode of Stranger Things. Mr Enemy thinks that some plot development wouldn't be out of place in a Bollywood film (that's a compliment. Maybe).
Finished Urbosa's challenge tonight, and considering that there are three more champions' challenges that (presumably) follow the same pattern I would say the DLC is now definitely worth it but shouldn't be attempted before you've done all the major regular game stuff (will they even allow you to do it? Probably not), because it's tough. I have never understood the griping about weapon durability until now, when I had my only weapon breaking, the game's way of saying "fight smarter".
Edit: Night-night.

The first is a Burrows and Badgers game(fantasy Redwall style, thing). That's not me in the background. That's Jon, the Friendly Gamer. The second is from a Bolt Action (WW2) tournament I was at last year, I didnt get to play on that table sadly. The bloke who did the rail bridge makes architectural models for a living. So yes, they can be fairly elaborate.

To judge by the space set aside for his hobby, Melvazord clearly has a massive house. I'd feel jealous if it wasn't in Northampton.

Colour me impressed, there must be a lot of man hours on display in that scene.
Seeing other people's creative hobbies always makes me wish I had one myself. My mate is into the graffiti scene (he shattered the illusion these people are in any way 'cool') and the steady stream of photos and stories throughout the summer makes me jealous.
No time for one just now though due to open uni, sadly. Speaking of which... *sigh*

It does pretty much take up an entire room of my house, but I've been doing this for 30 years this year and stuff tends to accumulate. Modellers are notorious hoarders.

Morning all,
Last day off before returning to university and currently sitting in a truck stop waiting for the AA after springing a radiator leak. Looking at an hour plus wait.
Gaming - some 3DS bravely default and a realistic phone based multiple choice quiz. Nearly finished bravely default. Recent Monster Hunter chats puts me in mind to start Monster Hunter 4 next.
Wargaming - some lovely stuff. How long did it take you to get that good? I dabbled a bit in my teens but never progressed much beyond the 6 year old left alone with some paints quality.

Good luck dude, hope you don't have to wait too long. Just in the last 10 years or so was when I really started concentrating on it. Before it was just a case of painting stuff so I could game with it but I discovered one day I actually rely enjoyed making scenery, and that really made me up my game for whatever reason. The painting bug really bit me when I won a best painted prize at a Bolt Action tournament 5 years ago, totally didn't expect it and since then I've gone all out on whatever army I do, base boards, unit markings, the works. This is the Battle of the Bulge German infiltrators I did the other year that have won me 3 best painted prizes. They are in my opinion the best thing I've ever done.

I watched the one with the autistic teenager who turned out to have watched child porn. The one where he robs a bank with Robson&Jerome? I don't think the kid was autistic, just in extended shock. It's also open to interpretation as to whether he'd actually watched child porn or not...The 'Everyone' analogue implied they could manipulate ISP records to make it look like you'd been watching whatever they wanted people to think. I viewed if as he'd watched regular porn and been funneled into carrying out ever worse acts to cover it up and was 'framed' for watching what the paedo he killed had actually watched. His 'transgression' was incredibly minor but ended up an armed robber, murderer and was alienated from his loved ones who believed he'd been watching child porn. The stinger would have been far less powerful if he'd actually been watching the child porn than if he was wrongly framed for having done so.

Lazy Sunday. This morning I listened to a podcast that featured Brittany Ferrendi as a guest, the new director of the Kunkel Awards for excellence in games journalism. Simon Parkin got one for a Guardian piece on Eve Online. I hadn't heard of it (or if I've heard of it I had forgotten), but it looks like fun. Anyone can nominate a piece of writing or a video in the relevant categories at no cost. The deadline is January 26.

Is there a category for establishing an alternative online forum where nomadic Chatterboxers, disowned and hounded out by a mainstream newspaper's games website, can chat about games and other things that matter, free from the risk of excessive moderation? I'm asking for a friend.

I'm asking for a friend. Not yet, but there should be. They had trouble with not receiving enough nominations for certain categories in the past, which they then replaced, so they seem to be flexible, but you should tell your friend not to get their hopes up. Shall we go and lobby for the creation of that category? I'd imagine that competition would be stiff, as in rigor mortis.

The stinger would have been far less powerful if he'd actually been watching the child porn than if he was wrongly framed for having done so. That's the one! It's interesting that we watched it and came out with entirely different views on the story. The boy was at the very least portrayed as different, the way he is viewed at work, the way his mum talks to him and the way he gets so angry at his sister for taking his laptop and drinking his coke because she just isn't supposed to. I must have missed the "everyone" analogue, but I'm still not convinced. The scene at the beginning with the girl and the forgotten toy comes across alot more creepy in hindsight and there's hints dropped along the way. I guess I don't see how being caught watching porn is enough to lead to that chain of events unless it was something more unspeakable?

Playing more Zelda all evening, now have square eyes. After successful completion of Urbosa's challenge and now knowing what the payoff for completing the champions' challenges will be I'm trying to do Daruk's one next for strategic reasons. That means getting to the opposite corner of the enormous map. I could teleport, but where's the fun in that? Since I'm also still trying to get as close as possible to completion (currently on 80.27%) I'm employing a mixture of treasure chest as the object of the Sheikah sensor plus Korok mask and see what that nets me.
As a result I have been constantly finding new stuff, including a new stone talus, but it's probably going to take me at least a week to even get to the challenge. Will I ever be able to start Skyrim? Or any other game?
Dinner: lamb shanks, roast potato, veg

Finally made it home earlier this afternoon. Took about 2 hours all in. Seems a busted thermostat caused the overheating. Now setting up an android phone for my mum from her old iPhone. What a way to spend a Sunday.
Homemade stew and potatoes for dinner. No games / TV. Tempted to look in the loft to see if my parents still have any of my old models to see if my painting was as atrocious as I remember.
