I'm not chatted out but I'm zoomed out. An email about an hour ago that said "we're doing a zoom call at 14.15 if you're not busy..." Which I ignored as I was hoovering and Mrs C had managed to persuade the child to go outside.
Phone rings. "We're doing a zoom call..." Yeah I know, we're busy. Take a fucking hint.
Hello. Games. Bit of Division 2. A little AC:NH. Not had a proper chance. Child warned on pain of death not to harvest my money trees.

Yeah, I know crankcaller... I'm not chatted out, but unless I want to live in a pigsty I just have to get a mountain of chores done. Zoom calls? Thank fuck I don't have to endure that; I've always detested parties where the needy and the extrovert open their mouths and garbage comes out... Sometimes my enforced isolation is a blessing, but, just lately ... I've had literally 9 inquiries about how I'm doing etc. from folk I've not heard from in years. You guys know it takes 30-40m to get any bloody text tapped into the document etc. using a trackball (holding the base steady with my left hand and controlling the ball and buttons with the right hand) and the onscreen keyboard. 5 wpm vs the 35-40 wpm before this shit hit my proverbial fan... anyway, I digress... So, to each of these little messages "Hi, it's me, how are you", I have spent a considerable time replying to... one guy I haven't heard from since before 2004... And I ask how they are doing - and sometimes I tap in a shorter follow up with another query and perhaps a shared memory, or do you fancy a game etc. and I 'm really keen to hear how you're doing. Nothing, not a single one has replied. Not one. It leaves me feeling that I have been mugged by Time Bandits... This has been another pointless Chumbles rant, so that I can avoid doing more chores

I went to bed too late having watched a lot of Pandemic. It's good.
Also I think we're in a weird scenario. The initial excitement has died down and people are uncertain about what's happening. And it is a nice day. So some people are outside.
While others are too busy playing Animal Crossing.

Not chatted out either, but busy.
Text message from Ocado yesterday reminding me to do my shopping before everything is taken. I had done the shopping for next week but not quite understood that what they are doing is giving you a weekly slot to choose from for the next three weeks. So had to get into gear and do the shopping for two and three weeks from now. The planning ahead can be a bit tricky, but so far it's working.
Long telephone conversation with my mother this morning, last weekend her TV had packed up, this week the TV repair man has brought her a new Samsung one that she's getting used to. While she was without a television she's dug out some old cards and letters, including some that I wrote in my first year at university when I didn't have access to a phone (an unthinkable thought these days). I never thought that they would entertain my mum several decades later during a pandemic while her television set wasn't working. She told me that she realised I could have written a novel. Well, there's still time for that. Maybe just publish my collective chat oeuvre.
My brother is back at work at the bookshop for two days a week but has to wear a face mask. His partner has a sewing machine and offered to make him one but they only had very colourful fabric that isn't exactly his style. He was never much into fashion.
Today is the last day of the e-shop sale, will have a another look later on. So far the two games I got are She Remembered Caterpillars and The Touryst, both from my very long wish list.
From 8 o'clock tonight I will be joining the now customary social distancing live stream. Today we are playing Hand of Fate, a game that so far hasn't been on my radar screen as I haven't had much to do with card games like. Mainly due to lack of time, certainly not due to a lack of interest. Because I'm a console player I've never touched Hearthstone. No experience with MTG, either and I still have to start Witcher 3 and get into Gwent.
So many games, so little time.

Chumbles I "liked" that for the fact that you put the effort in, despite the time and issues, and yet are still able to maintain a semblance of humour. The thing about this is that you're never sure whether these mails are just idle curiosity or whether they are covert cries for help from someone who is desperate. And I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't make the effort. Like the Macedonian lass whose depression is so profound that I only get a reply from her every 4-6 weeks, but not sending her notes every few days would turn off another light in her life. Crocked as I am, I can at least do that much. As far as I'm concerned that doesn't make me saint👀... just a human being. Over half of the contacts are from folk I've played Neptune's Pride with.

I have spent much of the afternoon sitting outside in the sun, re-reading a book from my Pelham Grenville Wodehouse collection , and drinking gins and tonic.
I am now preparing meatballs in a tomato sauce for the family repast.
What ho.

Tenthen, Crank, Roses are native to my island and I've managed to breed a gold one. I also have a ton of pansies, if these are of use in exchange? I've put 2.5 million into the stalk market this week, I got the golden catapult and my island is ending slowly towards its final form. That sums up my progress. Other things that barely matter: the coffee cup I got from the pokémon cafe has developed a crack across the top join of the handle. It's only a matter of time until it fails. Sob. Pokemon cup: should have got insurance for that. I hate it when stuff like that breaks, but on the other hand I'm an archaeologist, so I live off the equivalent of ancient broken Pokemon cups. I'm thinking of the Uruk Vase that was excavated damaged and badly repaired in antiquity. You know someone was heartbroken over this 5,000 years ago. AC:NH: You are far ahead, but I tend to play AC slowly (after all, New Leaf lasted me every day for 5 years). As I've said in my earlier post, I have pansies, too, but am still looking for cosmos, lilies, mums and roses, so a flower exchange would be very welcome. Probably won't have time for a visit today, let me know when is good for you as communication about visiting gets a lot easier once the initial visit has taken place. I'm keeping an eye on my turnip prices for you but last week was a complete write off as I had a descending pattern of low prices on my hands. Fortunately I didn't invest too much and just accepted the (relatively small) loss. Hopefully this week will make up for that debacle. Crank, now that the Able Sisters have opened their shop, remember to talk to Sable at the sewing machine once a day. I also had a major quality of life feature unlocked fixing something that I complained about; the upshot is, keep ordering stuff from the Nook Shopping catalogue.

Busy? Tell me about it.
Of the 3 things I was planning on doing today, I have only done 1. Make a lasagne.
The other 2 were sidelined by a) sitting in my deck chair and mostly b) playing cricket with Tuffers The Youngest.
Three test matches later and I held aloft the Garden Ashes, aftee a 2-1 victory.
*finger wag*
Only one tennis ball was lost. TTY with a KP-esque flamingo slog over our hedge, over next doors garden and into next door but ones garden. We did the correct cricket-like thing and ducked below our hedge for a few minutes. As the day wore on, my spin bowling, aided by an uneven surface and left to right downward gradient saw that I would retain the ashes.
Overall it was a low scoring affair, with the wicket being the main factor, plus some excellent fielding by the wheely bin at 3rd man, the kier box at mid-on and a long row of Mrs Ts rearranged plant pots at cover. The shed and trampoline at cow corner and long on were not troubled all day.
OTTM, down to my last 3 beers and one bottle of shiraz.

Tuffers you probably already have it, but if you haven't and Tuffers the Youngest has been initiated into the arcane art of keeping the scorecard, you and he might enjoy Armchair Cricket - my best friend RJW the Demon Bowler and Stonewall Chumbles would play this as light relief... "Bad light stopped play" was code for "Get cooking you men, we're back from shopping!"

We've got a mammoth Tesco delivery inbound for tomorrow. RIP in peace the delivery man who will have died trying to carry it all up the stairs to our second floor abode. Somehow the gods of delivery have conspired so we have at least 4 delivieries scheduled for tomorrow, including face masks, a box of bottles of wine, a mountain of Tesco "groceries" (read cider, coke, coffee), and a kilo of chilli paste. TB
Video Jims - They are billions, on the GeForce Now, TB. Just discovered I can research upgrades into stuff that would have made things considerably easier. Also picked up BattleTech on cheap. This streaming stuff isn't half bad, when the games are there. Stadia on the other hand asking 50 squid for games that came out in the middle of last year. TB.
FF7R demo - good stuff, but turned into a bit of a slog near the end. Can you at least save anywhere in the full game? Those JRPGs that only let you save at certain points are a real downer for those of us who never get more than an hour uninterurrupted intimate alone time with the PS4.

Hullo.
Games: AC Odyssey. I am enjoying this quite a lot, probably because it is an obvious Witcher clone.
Tv: nearly finished Save Me, but it is pretty grim. Not sure I will watch the second series .
Ottm. Went for a walk on the coastal path and up the fields. Magnificent views. We also found a local wholesaler who is now delivering to private addresses, so we have 3 tons of flour and 80 bottles of beer arriving tomorrow.

Able sister are not quite open. Mabel has asked me to find a spot for her. Looks like the child has arsed the first money tree. I said she could have one bag. She'll have "accidentally" took this to mean one tree I think. Assuming you can take other peoples?
Love day here though I've been cleaning & cooking. Had a lemonade ice lolly in the garden after dinner. Dinner was turkey burgers. Put a wee bit of sweet chilli sauce in the mix after I'd made up the child's.
Schools "back" tomorrow so hopefully a bit of work can get done.

Hopefully will arrive Covid free. I did notice under "similar items" an old game me and my brother had, early 80s I guess, called Test Match cricket. A subbuteo style green cloth, with players who could 'catch' the ball in a little cup between their feet. The bowler used a mini ball bearing that rolled down a lever from his arm, to the batter, who had a bat that would flick at the ball. All in all it was pretty rubbish and got much less use than subbuteo. Four stars. And youngest Tuffers would not be eligible for Joe Roots first eleven, more chance in Heather Knights. And she loves video games. The worlds gone mad! 😁

The bowler used a mini ball bearing that rolled down a lever from his arm, to the batter, who had a bat that would flick at the ball. All in all it was pretty rubbish and got much less use than subbuteo. Four stars. We tried the predecessor Waddingtons Cricket Game, which had shite cardboard cutouts, rather than the plastic figures, but a similar slide which you 'bowled' down the chute - the ball bumped over the wrinkled playing area, going all over the place while the batsman with a large plastic rod up his arse was jerked around by the batting player, who als had to yank a piece of string in an attempt to connect with the ball. Invariably, one or both the plastic structures broke or fell down whilst the cardboard fielders had long since fled the field of play and over the side of the table. We agreed that we'd never be pissed enough to play it again so it went into a car boot sale... You can see that the fielders are so terrified of what's to come, they're hiding behind each other!
