www.northernwineschool.co.uk/fun-wine-quiz/12/20 - one question I could answer because I'd actually tasted the wine; an immense privilege which I owed to the extraordinary generosity of spirit of a friend's father. And it really was a taste of heaven ... It was not opened like this! Tips for really good champagne: 1. Put the bottle where you're going to open it as long before as you safely can. 2. Don't shake it - ever. 3. The bottle should be on a surface and check to see what's above you! 4. Remove the cage slowly - if the cork starts pushing, move to ...5. Put a tea towel over the cork and twist slowly with a slight downward pressure; if it does start to fizz then keep the base of the cork in the bottle while pressures equalizes. If you've got it right the cork will come out with just vapour. You won't have given the floor/your PM/ceiling a soaking with any of the most expensive booze you'll ever buy, or put someone in A&E and you'll have kept the bubbles in the fluid. They didn't call me Champagne Chumbles for nothing!* *It usually cost me a bottle.

Morning all,
Had Friday off so spent it drafting the script for the podcast I recorded at the weekend. A nice one on eclipses in antiquity.
Gaming wise more AC Odyssey. Hit level 50 so I now can add mastery perks. Opted for an increase in armour though there doesnt't seem to be any knowledge of how armour specifically works as a game mechanic.
Saw something about Troy Total War. Watched a trailer which was 'meh'.

Games. A mission in GTA story mode. Now 40% through. Generally managing to avoid GTA online. For the best.
TV. Frankie Boyle tour of Scotland. All the lols.
OTTM. Bowie at Glasto2k. So twenty one years ago he was two years older than I am now. Thanks for the mortality wake up David ya wank!

Good morning! A busy evening was had. Gamesblog: Skyrim was not touched. On the other hand, a PS2 was found and plugged-in. And much merriment was had as a katamari was moved around, picking up screaming people... TVblog: R.E.M. at Glastonbury. I said a bit about this last night, and I'm going to repeat most, if not all of it. Bloody hell, R.E.M. were good. From Stipe's voice, to Peter and Mike's versatility. Each and every song performed perfectly. Stipe was leaping all over the stage, and yet didn't miss a beat or a note once. And such variety too. IRS and WB. From rocking to slow. We'll never see their likes again. set-list: Daysleeper The Wake up Bomb The One I Love Sweetness Follows At My Most Beautiful Losing My Religion Everybody Hurts Walk Unafraid Star 69 Finest Work Song Man On The Moon - Why Not Smile Crush With Eyeliner Tongue Cuyahoga It's the End of the World as We Know It
Oh, and Shenguin - Up is brilliant.

I am frightfully busy at work, plus my day's are mostly meetings now so I cannot get anything done.
Wet, dark and gloomy in Sheffield.
Games: Some NMS and Reach.
Telly: The Eurovision film with Will Ferrell, it was arse retchingly bad.

Talladega nights (which I enjoyed) Blades of glory The best Eurovision send up is the Father Ted one.

Hello!
Ganes. No.
Telly. Halfway through s3 on the Wire. Start of s2 on Blacklist. Blacklist is basically torture porn with a reasonably intriguing story, but James Spader smirking and nodding while he shoots people in the face for no obvious reason makes it very watchable.
Ottm. My haircut looks ok in the cold light of day. £8.50 saved. I need to cost that up for the next two years, deduct the price of the clippers, and get on Amazon to blow the savings on crap I will never read/listen to/play.
What is the point of a spoof Eurovision film, given that Eurovision already spoofs itself in a fairly knowing way?

When Father Ted did it the joke had a bit more to it as it was a bit of a secret. I think it was Spain (or Greece) who put up entries a few years back and stated that they wouldn't be able to host it if they won. Cutting edge stuff from Ferrell there...

I'm not repeating myself, much... I realise that I'm guilty of what my mother used to do. Picture a frail old lady, after breakfast. On the table a cheap fag in the ashtray, while she would read the Telegraph (great cricket reporting in those days, and crossword) occasionally pushing her reading glasses back up her nose*. Every so often she would read something out, stoking my irritation at being read to like a child the opinions of The Rev. Arsebandit on the need for corporal punishment (and Sergeant Sodomy at a guess), from a newspaper whose reporters routinely exaggerated / distorted facts in support of there right wing mantras. After my patience went and I'd said "lies", down would droop the rag, her head nod forward to peer over her glasses and say "When you're my age you'll understand why these words are true. Cue brief row, before agreeing to do the crossword. My views have become disparate since then, but mainly because most news seems to come to us with an interpretation, a spin on it. So much so that nowadays I feel like Gatting facing Warne - you have to concentrate like crazy. And it's not just balls, you have to beware grinding axes. *No, she wasn't snorting them I am seriously into The Expanse now. 4* Thanks amipal for re-recommending

The Expanse is pretty good.
I've enjoyed the books as well.
It's confusing though. I can't quite remember what has happened in the books only and what is also on TV.
I'd also recommend Altered Carbon. That is quite good.

I'm tracking Yodel, the driver's managed to chuck 11 items in the bin in 20 minutes. I have concerns as my property is not the easiest to find. Still, I should be 7 deliveries away from a shit Vax.
