Come on you fat baps, rise and shake! Look, this guy was a lot slimmer then the others* *It's only coincidence he could do this to the tune of Africa singing "I come from the Land o' the deep fat frier"...
Astonishingly I've overslept by 2 hrs. Just weighed in at 12st and got an email from the Surgery of the Damned cancelling the telephone Doctors' appointment they made on Friday to discuss my dangerous rapid weight loss. Yep, these are the guys under: Special Measures - I'm guessing it's because their Doctors ain't Doctoting, their Nurses ain't nursing and their administration couldn't give a fuck...

Morning! Filmblog: Star Trek: The Motion Picture. "The most sensual of Star Trek films" (copyright Red Letter Media). I may have fast-forwarded through some of the longer effects sequences. 4* Good morrow, gentle amipal ; Star Trek: The Wasted Opportunities Picture: having gazed upon the works of Kubrick and found them marvellous, they said "Lo, that made $millions, let's riff that, smoke some shit and so will we." They fucked it up. They didn't get Arthur C Clarke to write the novel first (and Alan Dean Flopster tried to stretch an episode into a movie), they hired a director who couldn't stop Shittner overacting, they removed any sense of real menace by not gradually killing the crew off AND grabbed the worst bit, the psychedelic sequence* and stuffed that in even though it was manifestly nonsense... Something that they referred to later... *I remember sitting in the cinema watching 2001 thinking "Please god make this stop". Please

Horrid day here too.
The child is off to her pals this morning for a play. She's almost levitating with excitement.
Whitby has amazing beaches and chip shops. You can also buy fresh crab from the boats. Just avoid the gifts. This information is all 20 years old so take it with a pinch of sea salt.
TV. The Americans Games. Rise of the Tomb Raider.
{Edit}The gifts? Fuck you phone. The goths. Avoid the goths.

Fuck you phone. The goths. Avoid the goths. Goth weekend is the best time to go to Whitby. The goths are usually friendly and polite. The scum that visit the rest of the year are the problem. No offence Baby. Morning! Ganes! P5R finished. NG+ started to grab the plat, when I can be arsed. 100+ hours is enough for now. Also bought and started the remade harvest moon 'Friends of Mineral Town'. It's ok, just lacks something from more modern takes on the genre. TV! None. Umbrella Academy s2 from Friday though. Quite looking forward to that.

There's an award-winning chip shop in Whitby. They do scraps with chips.
Scraps of what, I'm not sure, possibly Coronavirus.
Also the church on the hill is worth a visit. Traditional boxed-in Victorian pews, of a style that were removed from virtually every other church that had them.
This is all from memory, and about 5 years out of date.

I saw a bit of 'Community', last night, on 4music. Seemed OK. amipal would be proud. Games: Zombies. A good game until I spilt a beer over my trousers - game over. I apologised to the other player, 'It's OK', was his response. A decent stoic British chap (I assume). None of that 'Git gud sucker', nonsense. Also, some BFBC2. Still good. Rain: Yes.

My knowledge of Whitby comes almost entirely from Dracula. The only other thing I know is that it is a meeting pace for sad goths.
I expect Babyfark will be in his element there.
Scraps is the bits of batter that fall off when frying fish and/or sausages. Delicious. A less salty version of scratchings

I've long given up on getting an explanation for your laziness. It's not even as if I think laziness is a bad thing! Laziness is an art form that should be practiced at every opportunity. Unfortunately, as the wise philosopher Lurk McLurkface may have said, life keeps doing things to us; in your case not-your children ... Now we know the inspiration for Curling

TV Too much cricket, too much football. I also watched 4 episodes of 8 Days That Made Rome. Bettany Hughes 2017 series for Channel 5. It is pretty good. I would have watched the other 4, but I spent most of Saturday night reading (and drinking).
Books Shadow king A Life of Henry VI It is quite interesting, but it's more a history of 1420-1471 in England & France rather than a genuine bio of Henry VI. I was not surprised. I don't think there is enough known about him as a person to support a lengthy book. He is something of a cypher, standing out more for what he was not rather than what he was. I enjoyed the book anyway. Four stars
Devolution Max Brooks It's quite enjoyable and well done. Not the best book ever, but a neat little disaster thriller Four stars
