We had a brief respite this afternoon where it seemed to get cooler. Opened the curtains and windows, let some slightly-cooler air in.
It's bloody baking again now. Feels very close.

Easy, Isa Gouha for Mann and Michael Carberry for Marks... it would also be in line with the beeb's LGBTE policy Agree about Mann - a droning bore. We were lucky yesterday as it was mainly cloudy and temperatures were somewhere between tolerable and pleasant while the rest of the country was baking. This is why I was able to cook a pork casserole for dinner without getting a heatstroke.
No such luck today, though beer supplies are holding steady and the electric fan is on full blast (sorry Greta).

Phone call from my brother this evening to tell me that there's still no point in phoning my mum as her landline hasn't been fixed. After 3 weeks. Allegedly they have at least been working on the problem since last week. She's okay, but... what a shitshow. Thursday is her 82nd birthday and we don't know whether we'll be able to talk to her.
