Builders have apparently gone home now without telling me (so that I could switch off the hosepipe and unplug their extension cord). They also have left their ladders and stuff behind. Not impressed. Felice Landry, on the contrary, AC:NH helped me getting some sleep as I usually fall asleep on the sofa as soon as I pick up the controller.

It always starts as con-terry, I have the same problem with "Parliament". Are there words that others have the same problem*? *I'm working on the assumption that all of you can pronounce words correctly and will educate and even "help".

My wife says "Not necessary" when she means "Not necessarily". It annoys the hell out of me. As do people on TV, including reporters. when they use 'less' instead of 'fewer' when referring to numbers of people/things.

I think I'd struggle with my words if I drank gin for brekkers then red wine for lunch like Felice does.

I used to annoy an ex colleague with the way I pronounced equitable. I couldn't help it. Well I could, but as it annoyed him I made no effort to change.
I said it as "Eck-witable" with an emphasis on the 'Eck' then said the 'witable', almost as if it was two words.
Also, Amazon, as in Jeff's Amazon. Or the lesser known river. I don't know why, but I emphasise the ON at the end, almost like I'm a yank. AmazON

I was talking this weekend about not being confident about the pronunciation of Boccaccio (Bo catch io) Allso about people getting syllables wrong. One that annoys me is Corticosteroids pronounced as caughty cost eroids The BBC do this regularly. The drugs are a type of steroid, not expensive eroids. Cortico-steroids. If people didn't hate hyphens it would be obvious how to pronounce it.

Also it's a bit odd to start to say parliament as conterry.

If in doubt emphasise the Brummie accent and say it loudly and confidently. Works 110% of the time.

Mrs T. has both written and verbal dyslexia. It fucks me right off, I always finish her sentences for her, which fucks her right off.
That's why she lives in the cellar.

I have many such words in English, so I can't even think of a good example right now. I frequently read news stories etc. to Pref.Mam., (Marina Hyde's column is a favourite and she can have pretty challenging words), so this is a constant battle. For a long time I had real trouble with "unequivocal(ly)", but I've overcome this hurdle. In some cases I'm getting mixed up between British and American pronunciation because I had to learn both (although schools in Germany teach British pronunciation), so I will always pronounce "schedule" the American way and then immediately correct myself.
Recently I pronounced "conservationists" as "conservists" before I realised that made no sense and gets you less points in Scrabble.

What the hell is going on?
I just found my way to a swamp that has a MASSIVE crab that wants to kill me.
Also I played a bit of Dark Souls 3.

Plus they weren't exactly woke. It's a bit like signing up for the Confedaracy. More emphasis on anti-Semitism rather than slavery
Get with the pogrom.
