Can you even see a 32" TV (The TV not the pictures)? That seems tiny.
Though I remember my parents bought a 30" CRT that seemed incredibly large and which was ridiculously heavy. It was definitely a two person lift.
65" TV for the win. It doesn't do full 4K HDR 10 as I bought it a couple of years ago. However it seems ok to me I have seen HDR on the PS4 and it is not life changing. I would probably disable it anyway to get 60FPS at 4K from the PS5.

Morning all
Email from Bossman today saying he was feeling washed out and needed a recovery day.
How hungover do you have to be to not be able to WFH? If i came up with a story that feeble he'd at least want me to sit here and occasionally waggle a mouse.
Games - NMS! Collecting Atlas seeds. Think i'm gonna need a bigger inventory cos i've run out of space.
Corned beef and mustard panini.

In other news.... Now that i've paid for Cyber2077 it was nice of them to release updated PC specs, meaning i'm even less likely to be able to play it at any reasonable def.
Currently trying to work out the best possible gfx card that my aged 2013 mobo and cpu can handle, and will then write a nice letter to the man at the north pole.

How many times do you think new owners can add PS5 references to any topic? Is having a PS5 the new "I went to Cambridge/Oxford"?

I’m pretty sure all the ps5 games that can do 4K 60 can do it with HDR. It’s not a particularly intensive thing to do.

Well my PS5 offers the choice of fixed frame rates or HDR. Which it says my TV won't display properly anyway so I should go for fixed frame rates

My tv is 1080p. Is that good? Is it HD? It says it is.
I am ignorant about such matters despite having been to both Oxford and Cambridge (admittedly not the universities, only the shops and some of the stadiums).

Telly chat.
1080p is fine for up to 32 inches, I think as you go bigger than that you will start to notice how much sharper 4k is. HDR is great too, probably makes as big a difference as jumping from 1080 to 4k.
However from a gaming perspective these large 4k smart sets are actually terrible due to the awful response times and lag. Even if your tv is advertised as <5ms response time (as mine was) it is likely to be far more than this as there is no real uniform standard for measuring this. If you play competitive shooters these tellys are therefore a huge disadvantage. My Fortnite KDR on Xbox was shocking at 0.27 and this is 1.10 on PC with around the same number of matches as I have always used a <1ms gaming monitor. However, if you are mostly playing single player games you will likely be fine.

1080p is fine for bigger TVs, 4K is sharper but if you don't have one you won't know the difference* so it makes no odds.
*I suppose you could go and look at one in a shop but unless you're going to buy one, why bother?

The big change was video to DVD. A big step foward.
Ever else is minor changes. A little bit better each time.
I can watch SD broadcasts fine on my TV. I don't have Sky Q so I don't see much in 4K. Planet Earth II is ace though.

Fortnite KDR boasing.
2.09 in solo games 1.26 in duos. On a PS4 with a tv, not a monitor. This is with cross play on.
Does this mean I am almost 8 times as good as Baby? Yes, yes it does.
Is 8 times as good as not very good actually good? I'll be the judge of that thank you.

Another thing - obviously you will need a 4k signal to the 4k telly, a standard HD program won't look much better than on a 1080 telly.
The 4k footy that BBC iplayer does is brilliant.

Melvazord is getting really creative; either that or it's a shameless piece of XBox fluff... although the skins for the beast look really good Yeah let's not touch that thing this year, leave it and whatever it has sealed away alone.

I have a 50 inch 4k TV. On very rare occasions I get to use it for games or tv.

Although watching the main guy in the Expanse trying to convey any sort of emotion or basic acting ability in 4k on a big telly really is something to behold.

hi
Are you ok?
What's new?
I am ok. Well - sort of.
To be honest I feel ...
I feel like an evil-tempered hippopotamus, sitting in a lake, waiting to upend a boat of passing adventurers.

Someone mentioned that Charles Dexter Ward podcast, I’m also listening to it. I’m enjoying it so far, and liking the style. I’m a fan of serial and the one about the clock guy a while ago, so I like that sort of thing.
I need to get back into unexplained though, I’m a couple of series behind.

32" 1080p. Probably nearly ten years old. Still an ok picture. Would I like a 4k TV? Yes. Mainly for an ARC port. But I'd prefer a soundbar first. Chicken and Egg.
What's the best soundbar if you steal a lot of content? That question doesn't go down well on a/v forums the pious fucks.
{Edit}And you should see the bezels on the fucker. Massive.

I have a 4k projector on to a 3m screen in my home cinema room, but to be honest I can rarely be bothered to go all the way down into the East wing basement to watch it, so I mostly just cry myself to sleep instead.
Am I doing this right?
