Surely you have the bed set up in the East Wing basement, Donald? I guess the election results put you off TV though.

We have a big telly, which I think is HD. It could be bigger. It has no sound bar

Someone mentioned that Charles Dexter Ward podcast, I’m also listening to it. I’m enjoying it so far, and liking the style. I’m a fan of serial and the one about the clock guy a while ago, so I like that sort of thing. Yeah it's decent. I've only listened to the first 2 so far. The clock guy - was that shit town? That was nuts.

Lunchblog: lamb and mint pasty from the farm shop. Boodiful.
OwnedTVblog: 43” Sony 1080p “smart” TV. Display is very nice - I don’t have any 4K content anyway - and as a bonus it has one SCART socket that supports s-video.

For reference this massive TV cost less than the PS5, so I'm not exactly a high roller here.
The fact that sheepers has already lapped me in Demon's is entirely down to the massive input lag only such massive 4K TVs can provide.
Sheepers - Isn't that the variable refresh rate thing? I didn't see a systemwide option for fixed frame rates.

Crank - I have a basic soundbar that cost £70 from Argos. It's quite a bit better than the telly audio and it makes me wonder how much better a more expensive set up would be.
When my children are past the age of pushing expensive things over I may go for a better soundbar with it's own Subwoofer, not least to annoy the neighbours now they have a loud dog.

My telly is an LG 43UJ750V 43 inch 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart LED TV. It won praise for it's easy to use interface and was the largest telly I could fit in the space due to the chimney breast getting in the way.

Our telly has an optical out - so I really want a soundbar that has optical and ARC. Part of the problem is not all TV's will output everything to optical properly. So I'd need to buy a soundbar to find out it doesn't work as intended.
Both Bose and Sonos will let you home trial soundbars. I should do that on one and see how it goes. But I'll want to keep it.

I have a 55 inch LG 4K OLED tv. No sound bar though, felt like it should have decent sound for all that money, but I'm not sure if it does or that all the sound that comes from netflix etc is shit. New TVs are great for a week while you remember what the old picture quality was like, then your eyes get used to it and youre £1400 poorer.

Mine is a Samsung 40 incher. More than big enough in theory, but the size of the on-screen writing in a lot of games is still too small, even for my tip-top eyesight. Clearly they are optimising for even larger tellies. I actually feel that this is a form of discrimination, intended to deprive the squeezed middle of their access to lore.

I bought a 40" HD TV because I couldn't read the writing on GTA IV. It was blurred on a CRT no matter where you sat And a 65" TV because the same was true of the Witcher 3
I have moved though and sit much further away from the TV where I now live.
It is ridiculous that you can't alter the text size in many games. Not everyone sits 18 inches from a screen.
Flat screens have much worse sound than old TVs. Surround sound is the way to go. I'd like a 16 speaker in wall arrangement as a minimum. Well 14 speakers in wall, 2 big speakers next to the TV and a sub.
My bank manger does not agree.

55" LG 55EG960V - Beautiful, Curvy (the only thing here that is), OLED, 4K Ultra HD, ColorPrime, rather clunky webOS, but light years better than the Samsung equivalent; it has both HEVC and VP9 codecs and a genuinely excellent Passive 3D system (the active ones give me a splitting headache) and Harmon Kardon speakers. The latter are pretty good for built-in TV speakers, but for films I use my Mission Aero...

I hummed and hawed over the extra cost of the HK speakers, but I think that they were worth it; they don't have to be as loud as the Aero before they 'dance'... it's a bloody good TV though

The bungalow opposite is up for sale. And at a pretty penny too, I think because of the size of the plot.
Now I’m panicking that anyone who can afford it will either add a floor on top of the existing structure (a common practice round this way), or redevelop it into flats (again, there is prior).

Been to look at a property today in West Sussex. Nice bungalow and a good sized plot. Area is a bit of a dump though, but it'll make a good spot for my tyre burning factory.
