Fuck it, I'm angry enough to shamelessly repost . . . The £500 payment needs to be for everyone who has to self-isolate, not just those who test positive. That's pretty obvious. And it can't be a once only payment. If you need to isolate several times you may need help several times. I call absolute bullshit on what the G reported: "The proposed change is thought necessary because government polling found only 17% of people with symptoms are coming forward to get a test, owing to fears that a positive result could stop people from working." This suggests 83% of people with symptoms aren't getting a test because of fears of not being able to work. But far less than 83% of our total population is in work. And many who are in work could work whilst isolating, and a significant proportion who are working in their normal workplace would get full pay whilst isolating. Presumably it is 17% of one sample, which was either self-selecting or heavily selected. Because it's based on am "official sensitive" paper, no reference is given to back up the assertion of 17%. My guess is that it's based on some fairly questionable or incomplete research, shoddy interpretation by government, and heavily selective quoting by the G. The figure and context the Guardian give are clearly utter bullshit. In effect, it looks looks like government propaganda to blame the population of Britain for having COVID, that has been swallowed hook, line and sinker by the Guardian.

Shenguin - so if I can summarise: 83% are self-obsessed idiots? This would seem to be borne out by your extensive research

The government is awarding people with £500 to catch COVID now? That won't end well.

I thought you just needed the link from WhatsApp to jump the queue for vaccine but now they are thinking of paying people to isolate will people not do that anymore? The pandemic seems to have brought out the worst in some people rather than were all in this together. Thinking of playing rugby in the park this weekend as don't want to go in to the office next week.

Sunny and cold out.
Games: Two Fortnite victories for our squad last night. I got the final kill on the first win, maybe on the second but it was all a bit mad at the end. We may switch to PUBG Lite for change next week as it's free.
Telly: Nope.
OTTM: Nope.

Thinking of playing rugby in the park this weekend as don't want to go in to the office next week. It's going to be a very strange game of rugby "In England, nobody can meet anyone from outside their household or support bubble indoors. People can exercise with one other person in an outdoor public place, such as a park, but cannot meet up with anyone else just to socialise. You should only leave your home once a day, and should not travel out of your local area." More likely some covid infected bastard* will start selling bits of his clothing to daft bastards to lick so that they get the £500. What these irresponsible idiots don't realise is that they have a significant risk of "long covid". Substantially worse off than me. *Such a person should be charged with assault.

Games - posted a load of nonsense about Demon's Souls in last night's soiled box. Four stars.
Rugby chat?
Footballer embracing team mate after goal = bad, sub human scum, burn him.
Game of rugger down at The Stoop, scrummaging with the chaps = jolly good
OTTM, It's Friday.

Hi. Well, at least it's Friday, probably. Started watching a programme called Fringe on the telly last night. It was alright. Like a kind of council telly version of the X-Files.
Ottm. No.

Tv - Mindhunter, good stuff, 4 stars. I dunno about Mindhunter. I enjoyed it while I was watching it, liked the Finchery atmosphere and the period feel etc, but by the end I thought it was empty at best, faux-profound voyeurism at worst. I read somewhere that the whole profiling thing it's premised on is tendentious too. I've mellowed my position a bit since I saw the main guy camping it up in Hamilton.

Tv - Mindhunter, good stuff, 4 stars. Gamepass any good? The rugby quote was a dig at Hancock in the park last weekend playing with family, later getting pinged by test and trace to isolate again. Long covid doesn't sound good, know one case of not getting smell and taste back and another who just felt a bit tired for a week. Both teachers and one got it from school, not sure on the other. Primary teachers now having to lfd test themselves Sunday night and Wednesday nights here. PPE this week included mask, goggles, faceshield, gloves, armbands, lab coat and white wellies. For the equivalent US farmer to do the same thing it says, trousers, long sleeve shirt, shoes and socks.
