I'm not having a good day at work today.
I've created a shambolic version of a recognised process, and dressed it with formality. It has failure built in. I'm worried about opening my email now in case someone has whipped the formality away.

PUBG
I was playing last night, and ... at the start of the game, while you're waiting for people to join, you can swim out to sea and dive very far down without dying. You became sort of immortal, in a game sense, for the three or four minutes you're waiting.
Anyway I came to the surface (my man came to the surface) and I saw an island in the distance so began to swim towards it. The game began before I got there but I realised I could steer my parachute towards the island - very far in the corner of the map - some distance from the main island you dive down onto.
My parachute brought me down in the sea but I was able to swim to the rocks and get on just as the electrical storm began to come in, diminishing my health.
This island is completely rendered: Derelict laboratories, housing of a kind, as well as a crashed, derelict, aeroplane.
I was hoping my curiosity might have been rewarded with a microlite or jet ski for me to get back. There was nothing though. No vehicles, no weapons. Nothing. Only death...

Well not just good news for Chumbles on the computer front, my Asus Rog laptop turned up today, it has an AMD Ryzen 7-5800H/3.2 GHz cpu and a RTX 3070 gpu, 16GB ram and a 1TB SSD. Remarkably I ordered it on Friday night* and even with no email form Asus saying they had sent it or the money not clearing the credit card until this morning it still turned up at lunchtime today. 4* *Alcohol may have been involved |

lazy - I've been playing Valheim using Geforce Now on the laptop. Stops it from getting hotter than the surface of the sun and making a sound like a jet engine taking off. Also means I could conceivably play it on the work laptop too, not that I ever have/would. Yet.
You could probably go al fresco with that as it doesn't seem particularly power intensive. Swinging free.

I have done everything I am going to do at work. Apart from pick on Lazybones, obviously.
It's actually been a decent achievement day Though I did not do the one thing I intended to do. It was not urgent. I did some other nonurgent things.
Resolved some small problems. Was generally unhelpful. It all felt good.

My main beast gets taken away, cleaned, a few faults fixed tomorrow morning. So I have been hunting out what drivers and installers and backing up as a background activity since I was told the new beast will be delivered and checked by my IT guy wnd both brought back on Monday (I hope)...
I noticed I get:
FarCry 6; CoD:Cold War & 1YR GeForce Now; and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla ... pity I don't play these...
I have been tortured by Nursey during all of this and I am already totally shattered

Seabream fillets*, lemon rice and veg for dinner, washed down with NZ white.
Phoned my brother as today is his birthday. On Friday he had received an email from his line manager with an invitation to join the company's vaccination programme at short notice. Naturally he put his name forward, glad that he would be able to receive his Jag earlier than he had thought.
Now AstraZeneca vaccinations have been suspended, so it's very unlikely that he'll get vaccinated any time soon.
He's telling me that some people whose appointments have been cancelled are taking legal steps to get the decision reversed.
It's a proper mess and I can't help but feeling smug. Is this my Tebbit test? Is someone going to hand me a UK passport?
* Or are they? I'm awaiting the results of the DNA test. They were half price at Ocado, maybe buying them was a mistake, pretty tasty though.

I had mine three weeks ago yesterday. Fizzing with antibodies. Invulnerable. EDIT: Though I reckon a 100ft tree falling on my head might slow me down somewhat. |
