I have this chore hanging over me. I have to call an electrician. Well I need to arrange one. Maybe ‘need’ is a strong word. It’s something that needs to be done eventually. I would rather send an email to the company we’re going to use (might use). I understand emails. Everyone knows where they stand with emails. With a call - I’ll be bamboozled. But this company only has a phone line. I’ll be put on the spot. There’ll be nothing in writing. Who calls these days? I’ve been in bed too long I suppose. This is a non-problem. Oh man, ringing up a tradesman and then waiting for them to not show up. I do not envy you here.

I was convinced by the advert where the CGI superhero characters go and repair someone’s house.

BG. Blimey.
Do you enjoy getting ripped off?
Edit: apologies if anyone here has relatives working for BG. I am sorry that you have relatives working for BG.

Their engineers are on strike and when our central heating broke down they could only offer an appointment four weeks hence. We were advised to source an engineer via LocalHeroes ( backed by BG) and, as we have a HomeCare contract, claim the money back from BG. We found someone who came out the same day and fixed it. BG have now refunded us the parts and labour. I would recommend trying localheroes.com. You pay direct through their website and get a 12 month guarantee.

I thought I’d try BG because I thought they’d have all the relevant certification etc. It’s really hard to know what’s required and whether someone knows what they’re doing. It should all be nationalised.

I have a number of those orbiting my head. Or should I say “had” - because yesterday, I was fed up of the hang-wringing, and got my sorry-arse in-gear. BAM! One phone call, and an electrician popped over the house in the evening to investigate some dodgy wiring in the kitchen. BAM! The second phone call booked the expertise of an appliance repair person to come over today and sort out the dishwasher. lazybones, I’ll level with you - it’s a weight off my shoulders.

Mprnng!
Beans on toast for lunch.
OTTM, youngest snapped the house key in the front door lock. Insurance excess was £100. Locksmith fitted new lock and three new keys for £60. So I've got a cool £40 profit burning a hole in my pocket. Sweet. 4*

I’m still in bed. I’ve been languishing in bed - mainly looking at articles on whether you can take a Dutch barge across the English Channel. (You can!)

Amipal paying folk to empty his dishwasher? Southern privilege right there. We empty our own up here in the harsh north.

As a Gigachad is to an Incel, so a tradesman is to Lazy. Is 'a Gigachad' one of your 8-Chan words for a woman?

I strongly recommend not googling Gigachad.
Shengers appears to have one single 4Chan/8Kun/Reddit login.

Morning fans of the simple joy of getting together with a friend, a ball and a wall!
Beat up magnamalo again last night and now have his giant sword.
Ottm - currently languishing out of bed. I made the terrible mistake of not putting any alcohol in the weekly Tesco delivery, thinking I probably won’t feel like it, or I can just have a soda water with a touch of aperol.

In an experiment on healthy living I have avoided booze since Sunday. I still feel like shit though, probably because of the lack of sleep and stress of work, which were ironically kept in check nicely by the booze.

You were lucky, we had a set of rolled up newspapers that we had scrub clean with our tongues then boil in oil over an open fire while we were standing in it stirring with our bare hands - and suck the paper dry afterwards.

I have booze. I have more booze coming on Fri. I also have a Brewdog booze club delivery (thanks scoobs!) coming sometime next week.
Laying off the booze till I see if there are any effects from the vaccine. Till Saturday. Possibly.
I'm off all next week and I've got a pile to do before I finish today.

When I had the jab I had all the Guinness the night before (a Friday) so I had some symptoms (dry mouth mainly) before being done.
I made sure I had plenty of beer in on the Saturday. You don't want to feel ill and sober.
Also I didn't feel ill in the slightest. You definitely don't want to feel well and sober.

I now have insurance docs for the machine.
OTTM: I have received a, quite lengthy, handwritten letter via Royal Mail from the JW's (not them - I think). It quotes Revelation 21:4.
It was addressed to the property - no name.
I bet it was one 'their' mates, the opportunistic bastards capitalising on Old Boy's passing.
Fuckers.
