Lazybones In Fortnite it took me ages to get not so bad. I think I only had one kill* in my first hundred matches. And that was lucky. My first win was a zero kill affair. The last opponent just died out of pity. I took it and celebrated like I had achieved something tremendous though. If you persist you'll get reasonably competent at PUBG eventually. * kill, not win This is good to hear. I was doing well last week. We won a squad match and I got 'six kills'. My fellow squad members were saying things like 'You're a killing machine'. I felt tough. I felt bad. We even won a game last night, though the other team seemed to evaporate - disappear - at the every end, and by this time I was only watching on as a ghost myself. It's difficult - this video game business. These games can be very hard.

Did you know? ...
The Arnold Schwarzenegger character in Predator - nicknamed 'Dutch' - is actually called Alan.

Lazy - is there an actual practice mode on console? On PC you can run around a gun range and pick up any gun and attachment you want and no one can kill you. It is useful for learning how to equip guns and attachments quickly and recoil as you can shoot other invisible players too and even have mini fights with them. There may be a guy with a crossbow though who constantly shoots arrows into your face until you look like a baddie from Hellraiser.

But there is no substitute for face-to-face encounters. This is how I feel ... And this is why I've been playing Team Deathmatch mode. It's just that, even though I can get kills in TDM, and I definitely feel more confident and that I know what I'm doing, last night ... I was just terrible in the real thing. Maybe it's because I was running into encounters and looking for kills? The Team Deathmatch had made me bloodthirsty. Maybe I've just been practicing with the shotgun too much, and with found / looted gear I'm ill-prepared. I'm in a funk.

Just out a team zoom call. We've been told to tie stuff we're doing into COP26.
I smugly asked about our data centre using green energy.
But then I blew it by suggesting a couple of burgers would sort out Greta. Four stars.

The pump action shotgun with 5 cartridges in the chamber is awesome within 50 metres with a choke using hipfire. Just makes sure the target is in the aim circle and blast away. The DBS (doesn't need a choke) is the 2nd best gun in the game for me after the MK14. You will always need to be good with a ranged weapon though, so your second gun should be Mini 14 or SKS as they are a bit more forgiving than the snipers and SLR. Steer clear of the tickle guns (M16 and Mutant).

Is that what he calls it post vasectomy? Since this has blown up, I’d like to draw attention to a charity which I donate to on a regular basis: Merkins of Hope. If you’ve got some spare hair (they take it from anywhere on the body), please consider donating.

Steer clear of the tickle guns (M16 and Mutant). This is what I thought. A shotgun and and DMR would be my preferred combnation, but then every time I get killed (in Team Deathmatch at least) it seems to be by someone with a Beryl M762. At the end of each (BR) game the last player standing often seems to be using something fully automatic with a red dot sight.
I'll stick with the shotguns. Aim to be like a cross between the Sean Connery character in The Untouchables, and Alan 'Dutch' Schaefer.

Guns that are so weak late game they basically only tickle the opponent.

I played a game of PUBG at lunch. I got all the way into the top 5 on Miramar without meeting another player then bam! Another dude crept up on me and took half my health but luckily cover was nearby so I tucked in and leaned out to hit a good headshot and force my opponent away to heal. I then healed and got headshotted to death by NTESSS from far away. Fuck you NTESSS!

Lunch: Nissin pot noodle, mainly due to a noticeable lack of food in the house. Fortunately there's a grocery delivery later tonight.
Games: Another 4 1/2 hours of watching Trails in the Sky live stream on Sunday evening. More Crossing of Animals, more Xenoblade Chronicles.
Heads up for neep investors in ACNH: this week I have a large spike pattern on my hands, peak expected tomorrow morning. Also, in a moment of madness some weeks ago I ordered from a seller at Jeff's what I thought was the full set of AC Sanrio cards before they actually became available (and sold out instantly) in the UK. Turns out that I didn't read the description properly, so was a bit surprised when they sent me a tiny box containing mini cards. They definitely saw me coming, but I'm actually quite happy as they are very cute and they work. So, if anyone is interested in the Sanrio furniture items, let me know and I can get them for you. The only snag is that apparently they can't be catalogued and re-ordered unless you actually scan in the card yourself.
OTTM: Encounter with the first bee of the year that had found its way through an open window into the house and was buzzing around me while I was having breakfast. I showed it the door (i.e. another open window).

For lunch I had two cheese sandwiches. Absolute game changer. No wasps.
I'm thinking about getting in on a piece of the action in the manger, feed-box and fodder rack market. See if I can make a killing. There is a risk though that we may already have reached peak trough.
