Lazy is in a whatsapp group with Russell Grant? It all makes sense now. A predictable joke.

PMs youngest has managed to remove a fingertip with a circular saw, and drive himself to the local A&E. He is concerned though that once bandaged up, he won't be able to drive himself home again, so we are waiting for a call to go pick him up and no doubt it'll be me that ends up driving a strange car, with fresh blood spattered around the interior back to his partners.
Assuming the rozzers pull me over, what would be the best cover story I should go with?

COVID levels a week ago were similar to the final week of September 2020, and they are increasing at a faster rate, and there are less controls in place at the moment. On that basis, we could expect to be back in lockdown by the start of August. However, hospitalisations and deaths are both very significantly lower than they were in September, and cases are now being driven by the 15 - 30 age group, the vaccine will be helping, and the Delta strain, whilst it seems to be more infectious, may be less likely to kill. Once the vast majority of adults are vaccinated, and relatively safe, the costs of continued lockdowns will be much harder to justify or impose. The only real game plan in town has to be to allow COVID to spread through a vaccinated population relatively freely (or as much as it can spread through a vaccinated population). Lockdowns will only be justified if there's a new variant that vaccination doesn't offer protection against, or if the virus evolves to, e.g., kill children, or to stop the NHS from becoming overwhelmed. The downside of this will be that there will still be deaths, complicated cases and cases of long COVID, and that I may well get COVID at some point. Whether or not the vaccine is sufficient to really control the virus across the national population is still up in the air, but it's clear that it offers enough protection to really reduce the risk of hospitalisation or death.

Sunday was the first time I have been inside a pub this year.
Today was the second.
Chicken chow mein for tea.

Wait, I wasn't concentrating properly. Did England qualify last night by dint of 3rd place in both groups B and C only getting 3 points?

That's the great thing about a 24 team tournament. Lots of waiting around to find out which teams get out of the group stage, teams qualifying without having to do particularly well, shit teams getting through.

Nothing more exciting than seeing Finland finish their final group game, then waiting days to see if they've qualified.

I suspect Clinger's a citizen of everywhere. A citizen of nowhere ...
He knows the price of all the players. The value of none of them ...
He's got all the gear - all the kits - of all the teams. But no idea ...
etc.
