Carblog: ah, new software… I can’t get the car to connect to the car app. Apparently this is a common problem, so it may take a couple of weeks to sort. I thought that VW had released a v2* of the software to eliminate that bug**. Are you telling me that they fudged it up again?
Anyway, how many kWs are you packin' son? Tell me all about the kWhs.
*Not that sort.
**See what I did there.
53kWh in the ID.3 Family. That’s all I can tell you at present. It’s a great drive though. Driving 2.0.

Big News. Buckle your seatbelts, and get your reading glasses on.
As we’re all aware, Star Trek TNG debuted in the UK on BBC 2 at 18.00 on Wednesday 26th September 1990. I watched them with a restrained degree of obsessiveness. I believed that through dedication and, once my family had one, the use of a VCR, that I had managed to watch all episodes of TNG on their first broadcast, with the exception of Season 4, Episode 20, Qpid (which I managed to watch a few years later).
In general, I am not one for re-watching TV or films. However, for a few days I have been somewhat under the weather with a dangerously self-pitying case of man flu. My brain is addled by ague, and little able to rise to my accustomed high-brow intellectual pursuits. As such, I have been watching Season 5 of TNG, and dribbling a little bit because of my slack-jawed mien. Whilst checking out a detail* about Season 5 Episode 7 Unification (Part 1) on the internet, I read in passing that one TNG episode was not shown by BBC in the original runs, and in fact wasn’t broadcast in the UK until 29th September 2007.
TNG Season 3 Episode 12 The High Ground includes a passing reference to terrorism** having a role in the reunification of Ireland in 2024, which led to the sensitive bleeding-heart fascists at the BBC not initially broadcasting it. I realised I had never seen it. Reader, I watched it.
I realise that if I were a true fan I would have known this already. I am willing to accept whatever opprobrium is due for my failings.
*Unification (Part 1) is dedicated to Gene Roddenberry, who died in 1991. I was surprised that Season 5 was made as early as 1991, having not properly taken into account the delay between US and UK broadcasts (and, from Season 3 onward, the additional delay between initial Sky UK broadcasts and BBC broadcasts).
**The episode did not mention Peruvian terrorism.

Let's try going back in time and putting a bet on in January that Emma Raducanu will become the US Open champion in 2021 WITHOUT LOSING A SET.
With this victory, Raducanu becomes:
The first British female winner at Flushing Meadows since Virginia Wade in 1968
The first qualifier in the Open era to win a Slam
The youngest women's Slam champion since Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon in 2004
The youngest Briton to win a Grand Slam title
The first woman to win the US Open without dropping a set since Serena Williams in 2014
She will also take home £1.8m in prize money, rise to 23 in the world rankings and will become the British number one on Monday.
All in her 'A' level year

I'm now watching Paul Van Dyke on twitch. The music is relentless euro trance, broadcast from Prague at some festival and quite terrible. I'm enjoying the light show though. Trance was ok in 1992 for about six months at Herbal Tea Party and stops after Axperience by Hardfloor. Or it should have.
