My ATM is also dry due to matters fiscal. I read that as matters fecal, and thought "Shit".

Tids, there will be nothing to buy in the shops. Take an idea from the supermarkets and have a lovely shiny cardboard cutout of some gifts. Forza Horizons 5 pre-loaded last night on my laptop. 100GB though. My wife and I will probably write I.O.U.s to each other, just like last year.

Damn Tesco's website - out since 5 a.m. "Sorry, there's currently an issue on our website. We're busy fixing it right now and hope this doesn't cause you too much inconvenience. Please come back and try again later. Thank you for your patience."

From the reports it sounds as if this could take a while. www.theguardian.com/business/2021/oct/24/tesco-website-hit-by-hackers-leaving-thousands-of-customers-frustratedSara Willman, whose tweet is quoted here, is maybe not the best example of a customer in need. Who wouldn't be happy with two bottles of gin and some crisps? What does she mean, "actual food"? And does she realise that it was her who put the gin and the crisps in the shopping trolley? At least when I do online grocery shopping, I'm committed to the stuff I order.

And that’s how Dad got cancelled on Twitter. Plus I have issues with someone calling Hershey bars “chocolate” - those things are vile. I always remember that photo from WW2 where an American soldier has given a Danish boy a Hershey bar, and thinking “that poor little sod.”

Chicken and mushroom pie in the oven. It's got mash instead of pastry.
There's been a bit of a shift about on 6 music. Glad to say Gilles Peterson is still soundtracking my Sat dinner cooking. The Sunday is now Iggy Pop. His show is good, I'm enjoying it.

Any of you Brummies familiar with Chakana? It's every restaurant you'll ever need.

As it's Halloween week here's a brilliant cartoon masquerading as an educational lesson. I recognise the drawing style but can't tell you the artist .

I've got a parking ticket on my car. Apparently I was parked for 2 hrs today in a parking spot which I am allowed to park in for a further 6 months.
Bonkers.
Inspector Tids is on the case.

In pandemic years it's still quite new, so I've only seen the outside of it. Not sure whether it had already opened the last time the PM and I went to the nearby Damascena two years ago, but generally PM preferred restaurants where he could have a chat in Arabic with the waiter/waitress. Sometimes it's not only about the food. However, I have fond memories of the area and I used to drink in the Prince of Wales. At the beginning of our relationship the PM and I were staying with his parents in Moseley and I had my very first Balti at the Kababish on Woodbridge Road. During the meal there was proper Brummie entertainment when a knife fight broke out outside the restaurant. We slightly overdid it on the wine and staggered home after a romantic evening. I suppose it'll be impossible to get a table after Jay Rayner's review, but I would certainly like to give the Chakana a try some time.
