I never used to like Northern Soul. I've warmed to it as I age. I always appreciated that to a certain extent the club scene in the UK wouldn't have really existed without it, but NS all night would do my head in.
The Elaine Constantine film is worth a watch mind you.

I always appreciated that to a certain extent the club scene in the UK wouldn't have really existed without it, but NS all night would do my head in. The Elaine Constantine film is worth a watch mind you. I was reading this book last year about this history of dance music. It seems that the Southern Soul scene was also a thing - in a way - with squat parties in London, playing … soul? Sounds a bit odd to me, but apparently it happened. And you had people like Judge Jules and the man responsible for ‘Good Times’. Soul through reggae sound systems. Not sure how great any of that would have been. London clubs (the little I’ve ever experienced of them) always seemed a bit chilly compared to northern ones (the little I experienced of those…)

I made a reference to 'Frenzy' earlier, but I think I got away with it.
OTTDM: Tootsie and her Aunt* Sharon were kind enough to treat me to some Karaoke at 10am this morning, I'm off to buy a necktie...
*As if.

I’d have liked to have gone to the Paradise Garage, in New Yoik.

Which book lazy? "Last night..." I concur about the garage, though I think I'd have preferred the gallery. Junior Vasquez at his peak in the Sound Factory would have been a blast as well.

The TGI Friday burger was good. I see they do beyond burgers as well. I'm always worried that these places that supposedly make good burgers are from a time burgers were crap most places and everone else has overtaken them.

FFS. Waterstones has a Harry Potter section with the books and assorted tat. Still? My brother works in a book store. The singing "Sorting Hat" on display is the bane of his life.

FFS. Waterstones has a Harry Potter section with the books and assorted tat. Still? Faceless jnr has just got in to Potter. I'm having to sit through all the films. Dreadful. I own all of them on DVD but can't even remember at what point I stopped watching them. From my recollection Prisoner of Azkaban is the only decent one. I was quite pleased when I was asked for HP stuff for the eldest granddaughter's recent birthday, not because I want to support the old TERF but because for a grandparent the books and the assorted tat are a great birthday/Xmas present resource. So I got her a really nice edition of the first book and 2 HP Lego sets with a plan to get her book 2 and 2 more sets that complete the first ones for Christmas. Fortunately I asked how the first instalment had gone down. Turns out that she's not into reading stories because she prefers factual books (history and such) and that the Lego sets with their small parts and stickers will need the helping hand of an adult. Sounds like a job for Omi. So I reluctantly had to rethink my gift-giving strategy.

You'll all be relieved to hear I'm now in Birmingham at the football. Where Blues fans have been singing "You Faceless bastards, get out of our club". A lot of fans of the box here, but not many fans of Faceless.

Trying afternoon, not helped by my Amazon Studio deciding to sulk... after I had woken after my post-prandial stupor it was dark and I had to blunder about un the dark. Bloody thing wouldn't react. I shouted at the kitchen dot and it reacted. Fortunately I've worked a help desk long enough ... I unplugged it, made a coffee and it came to quasi-life when I plugged it back in. Meanwhile ... Have these guys never watched any Attenborough? Orcas on the beach rubbing themselves in the shallows on the round pebbles...

Th child spent her Xmas money on a pair of doc boots. 3 yrs younger than I was when I first got a pair. They're patterned though so won't be polished..
*mutter mutter*
Might watch that Spencer film tonight. The Big Sky thing we've been watching is annoying me. I went on to IMDb to check an actor to discover it's got 16 parts. How the fuck they're going to spread it over 16 episodes I don't know.
Talking of TV. My box downloaded the first episode of S7 of Billions. Mike Prince in the seat at Axe Cap baby.

Intertnet? Yep. In hindsight that was more fucking trouble than it was worth. Hopefuly. Indeed. Unfortunately I had to type it in rather than cut 'n' paste as it records keystrokes. Clearly my typing skills leave a lot to be desired.

Evening
We've been trying to play the new official Rick Astley board game.
But the instructions just say "You know the rules, and so do I".
