I never tire of seeing shots like this "Look up, look up, young man, there are other places and other things!” I like videos like this, and I know I shouldn't do this, but it's bugging me . . . There's not really an up or down in space, so you can't look "up" if you're in space. Except the ISS orbital altitude is about 400km, and gravity is still about 90% as strong there as it is on the surface of the Earth, so perhaps there is still an up and a down, despite the apparent weightlessness of being in freefall, in which case this video is definitely looking down at the Earth, not up. There, I'm not apologising, and I'm glad I got it off my chest. Edit: although if I applied that logic to the solar system as a whole, I'd have to describe the Sun as being down from the Earth, and that definitely doesn't seem right, or at least not right during the day, so now I'm back in knots again.

We still say the sunrise's, but it doesn't does it. The earth dips and it only appears to rise. Or at least I think that's how it works.

As I understand it, all stellar objects have gravity wells. As the Sun is the object with the most mass, all the bodies in the Solar System fall towards it. Likewise, we are at the bottom of Earth's gravity well, so we look 'up'... Folk in freefall are literally freely falling; they will only stay in orbit if their momentum / velocity is sufficient to balance the pull of Earth...

I would have got yesterday's wordle in two if I'd trusted my (rotten, booze-filled) gut and gone with DRUNK as my starting word, instead of as my second guess

That's OK.
OTTDM: Battery back on car, can't get the battery clamps to play ball. Even Mrs T was feeling the rage, "What the fuck were Subaru thinking?". I couldn't have put it better myself.

Went to bed at 9.30 and slept for about 10 hours. I genuinely feel really well. I think I may have stumbled upon the winning formula

I’m amazed that stuff like this has to be explained to people. There are people out there who think there’s a different sun when they’re on holiday. And that the moon glows of its own accord.
