Just briefly - The Martian by: Andy Weir; narrated by Wil Wheaton is that very rare thing. A good book made into a fantastic listen. To get through the night I listen to stuff. I normally drift off for an hour or so. This audiobook is now on the banned list because I simply stay totally engaged. 4.9* I haven't seen the film btw If you think the audiobook is good, just wait until you find out they made a film of it!

12/15 See you there RollingEscargot, unless on my way I see someone bigger than 6 foot 5 on my way, and fight them instead. I'll be the 6 foot 5 guy with the vitamin D deficiency and prison tats. Why do I suspect only one out of three is true?

I ate a hearty meal at a local Shaanxi restaurant at lunchtime. It was nice. One of the dishes was a mound of semi-jellified fronds, with chilli oil. Then I had some belt noodles, with chilli oil. And a number of cups of jasmine tea.
8/10

Slightly late start today. I am alone in the office, so not an issue. Yes yes, but who's chair are you in? Mine. We bought 4 identical office chairs from Ikea last year. They were only about £60 each, but they are ok. I could swap them around, but there is not that much point. There are also some older chairs, but they aren't as good.

While I enjoyed the film, it sits a little too much in the light-hearted category. Space flight is serious and dangerous work. Overplaying his playlist the whole time takes away from that immensely.

I think I'm going to buy a compass today, and a torch. There's a possibility I'll be ascending Ben Macdui in a week's time. Only a 30 percent possibility I'd say. I'll certainly be walking around Ben Macdui.

I did not like The Martian at all. The film. I would definitely watch a film about the loneliness of one man, on a dust planet. This wasn't it.

I'd choose go to Mars, to experience the atmosphere, the immensity, the loneliness. I would not like to find Matt Damon there - razzing about on his Martian Rover, shouting 'Science kicks ass' and listening to disco.

Shenguin I'll fight you. I am in the mood. I reckon Scotch Corner is about half way, so meet you there outside Costa in 5 hours? I'll be the 6 foot 5 guy with the vitamin D deficiency and prison tats. Also down the M6 is shorter. You should fight somewhere between Appleby and Preston. Perhaps at the horse fair. I think it has a tradition of bare-knuckle boxing This is a fair point - I will divert to Tebay. That way we can get some artisanal cheese and watch the ducks after we've kicked the shit out of each other.

I admit that I am not going to listen to tonight's Gooner match. It has all the signs of a banana skin for the Arsenal. The only thing going for them is that 'Lawro' thinks Wolves will win. But predicting a Xhaka the Hacker 🟥 red card is only too likely... however it's as likely it will be 10 a side game by the final whistle as Rúben Neves has 7 Yellows 🟨 this season!
