Banning Russian and Belarusian Paralympic athletes, at least they have a leg to stand on now. The Gods of Paralympus are angry. First mistake, bringing politics into a sporting arena, second mistake, blaming sporting persons for the actions of their nations leadership. It's a bloody disgrace.

Happy Birthday Tids!
I celebrated a colleague's birthday yesterday, starting at about 16.30. When I got home, I played some Fortnite Duos, and apparently I won two matches.
In other news, I had a large breakfast of poached eggs and haloumi at 9.30 this morning. It didn't kill me, but I'm also not sure I'd describe it as a cure. I still feel overly full.

I'm curious as to when sport wasn't political? Even back in the day it was highly so. I think it's been a more recent idea that it shouldn't be. Not saying I disagree with your position, just curious as to when the idea of it being separate came into thinking.

hello
I achieved all three of my lunchtime goals today. I bought the cheese, I ate the noodles, I played Dark Souls 2.
Dark Souls 2
I levelled up my man and went to have a go at 'The Pursuer' again - the self-styled Pursuer. I tried parrying him but was unable to land a killer blow. The button just gave him an ineffectual whack.
Ah well.

Morning all!
I followed Keiths' advice and wiggled around Limni grave in the Ring last night. Its incredibly rich. Did some dungos with big angry lads and smashed a few bosses, also discovered a dragon blasted village in the middle of a lake, and smashed up a big lad using my cheaty horse. Top banana.
I bet Sheepers is waiting for a step by step guide to the Ring for the hard of brain. I've herd he's rubbish at Souls games.
Finally, a little insight into my night thoughts - from about 12.15am - is keeped a word? Kept, keeped. Wept, weeped. Leapt, leaped. Are they words?

I may have to do some research on that, it does appear that politics in sport has become vocally louder in recent years, as you say it was most likely there in the background for a long time, maybe even at the first Olympics.

Sport and politics seem so similar, you pay the most and get to have what you wanted? Did we ever find out if the Russians cheated in brexit or the tory party?

Our doorbell rang today and it was the woman from Hermes who makes deliveries to our building. She wanted to leave something outside the door of one of the other flats. I tried to dissuade her because that flat is always having its stuff stolen, but then I said I would take it in. When I opened our door she asked how I was, and I said 'Ok. Could be worse', and she said 'Could be worse, yes? If someone ... pushes the button'. And she made a 'pressing the button to initiate nuclear war' gesture. I'd stopped thinking about it to be honest, but I'm glad it's now a conversation topic.

We definitely need to keep politics out of football. I want to blindly support my team and hate any cunt who supports any other team. Introducing politics into that could be divisive and lead to arguments. There's no place for that in sport

I got a haircut at lunchtime, at a place I'd never been before. I had a nice chat with the hairdresser about how our kids were enjoying school, where I was thinking of going on holiday this year, and whether or not the world is about to be consumed in a ball of thermonuclear flame. Plus, only 9 quid!

Was wondering about digging up my lounge floor. Going down say 20 feet for a nuclear shelter. Might affect my house insurance though. No mention on the policy against building a nuclear fallout shelter in the lounge that I can see.

What I want to know is how do you distinguish the pushing the button to initiate nuclear war gesture from the pushing the button to call the lift gesture? I imagine the fictional nuclear war button being at a slight angle from horizontal, with a glass (or perhaps plastic in this day and age) cover on top. Do the flip of the cover and downwards push to activate the button unambiguously indicate a nuclear launch? I think there is still room for error - perhaps someone needs to make an entry on the risk register for this.

Fear not everyone, from The G:
'Macron tells Putin he is making a major mistake'
Phew!
In Moscow:
'Hey Vlad, Macron says your making a mistake'
'HAHAHA, tell Ronnie Corbett to go fuck himself with a baguette'

The first list of the supposed Olympic victors (which often supports the fallacy of the first Olympic games in 776 BCE) was a piece of propoganda.
It was written in 400 BCE and used to reinforce a political argument between city states.
At the original Olympic games treaties were agreed and it was often the backdrop for political events. We're talking ancient Greece where anything and everything was tied into politics.

Lift is a horizontal push of a button on the wall. Nuclear war is vertical push of button a a desk. For conventional explosion push the plunger on the old fashioned dynamite trigger. Simulate a cluster bomb by randomly stabbing your hairdresser.
That is basic stuff.
