It's the morning after the night before.
Fortunately my comment yesterday about my Graun profile being deleted was premature; I must have got error messages because they were busy deleting some of our past comments. Someone must have worked overtime.
If their goal is to erase any off-topic comment ever they've got quite a task ahead of them.
Late last night I tried to follow BigG's example and talk about things in moderation, but they wouldn't have it. BigG's comments were also removed. Then I posted something trite about Pikachu looking cute in a hat and that got through but has meanwhile been deleted, too.
Looks like in the game of whack-a-mole someone decided to drop a concrete slab on the moles.
We can only speculate what's going on behind the scenes, but I'm finding it very strange that this mod is actively reversing all their colleagues' moderation decisions and carrying out some sort of vendetta against chatterboxers. Someone else had obviously taken pity with us and left comments open in the various articles, but I suppose the message now is that there will never be a Chatterbox again. Rather unfair, considering that the Running Blog is probably also sometimes off topic once they've discussed the mud on the road.
I don't think a complaint to the Guardian will do anything as they will most likely stonewall us, but one could try.

I'm assuming it was the work modding the box and not the work actually setting one up every day that was the hassle.

For one it was contained, and, well, you know what sort of stuff needed modding, but most of it was harmless. I think the only difference was that it had off-topic talk built in by allowing us to talk about "other things that matter". |
