I now have the dubious pleasure of one set of neighbours (the ones who burn garden rubbish in their BBQ 6' from my bedroom window) digging out the base of one of their fence posts in my back garden... the other neighbours (the nice-ish ones) are checking from a distance because they have a key to my garden gate, and I won't trust BBQ man with a key. So far, so noisy, but the nice-ish ones tell me that they both have tested positive for Covid - and they borrowed my carpet washer 'for the weekend' 3 weeks ago... which could prove problematic if I have a clumsy nurse who chucks the paraffin based emollient onto my carpet. I'm keeping my blinds closed as I have no desire to have a chat with one lot and the others have a highly contagious disease that could fuck me up right royally... |

I'm currently watching The Bargee on Talking Pictures - an obscure (to me at least) British comedy written by Galton and Simpson and featuring, among others, Harry H Corbett, Ronnie Barker, Eric Sykes, Hugh Griffith, Julia Foster and Derek Nimmo. It's quaint and shows its age, but I'm enjoying it.
It's followed by Inserts, a 1975 Richard Dreyfuss film about a once-great silent film director, unable to make the transition to the new talkies, living as a near-hermit in his Hollywood home, making cheap, silent sex films. One to record I think.
Talking Pictures seems to me to be the home of quirky, rarely seen, movie gems. 4 stars.
