Literally eating a cheese sandwich as I read this. Do you ever mix that up? Quesadillas, Croque Madame, some chilli jam, chopped pickled onions.. Or just cheddar, spread/butter, bread? Just basic sliced bread with butter and sliced cheddar as an open sandwich. With a few gherkins on the side. |

Last night I played a bit of Titanfall. I'm in the factory looking for BT. This is where I stopped last time I played it. I also played something else but can't remember what.
We watched a couple of Russian Doll episodes and when the PM went to bed I shoved on the Uncharted movie. I've not finished it, but if you have low expectations it's ok. I had eaten a chew though.

The woodpeckers are at it next door (and this one); I'm pretty sure that in a couple of years the post will go again. The re-use of an existing position doesn't work unless you dig the entire original cement ball at the bottom out. But they have only dug out a hole in the existing stuff and put postcrete in, so when a hot dry spell comes the earth shrinks away creating a kind of armature so that the next strong wind will repeat what has just happened ... dummies. They should replace the whole lot with posts in new positions. |

So is that the European influence from Baby's mum kicking in on the sandwich front? Or is he just a wrong un? Is it both?
An open sandwich is fine if you're using bread you have to slice yourself or baguette or something, not from a packet of pre cut bread. And then I'd say if you're using spreading cheese like boursin, not butter & cheddar.

On my holiday to Copenhagen I discovered the Danes love an open sandwich and will charge you a minimum of 10 Euros for the pleasure. Fuck knows what they'd try and scalp you for if they included a second slice of bread.

An "open sandwich" is in principle a Butterbrot, although it can be folded for transport purposes. Then again, so can pizza. I'm still hoping that Russia and Ukraine will eventually find common ground over their shared love of the бутерброд ( buterbrod), hopefully without lacing it with poison. In other bakery goods news, I talked to my mother this morning who was shaking her head about the follies of modern life. My brother had visited her yesterday and as usual he had brought her a Franzbrötchen, a staple Hamburgian food item. When he picked it up at his usual bakery he noticed that it didn't look quite right and found out that the bakery was now only selling vegan ones. A Franzbrötchen should be roughly 85% butter and 250% calories. A Franzbrötchen without butter is an abomination and undeserving of the name. Broken Germany. Gexit now. Finally, I have a confession to make. For breakfast I had a chocolate croissant that I had taken from a packet in the freezer and then baked in the oven. It was delicious. It was also made in France. I hope that amipal can forgive me one day. |
