Looks like there's a problem with GoG Galaxy - the latest update returns a message on start up "Game Database failed to launch"... Going to try to sort this out in the morning, but the GoG Forum has a lot of pissed off users, so hopefully they are working on a means to recover ... |

Travelled all the way to Maia, (15 jumps) then all the way to Deciat, (15 jumps) fought bandits and fuel loss, only to find that I need some supplies to engineer my Frame Shift Drive.
I had meta alloys, back to square one.

EliteChat! There is a really useful 3rd party site. EDSM, which uses the game logs to track all your travel/stats/misdeeds etc. Also tracks your in-game friends, and any community goals or expeditions if you are that way inclined. Here is my galactic progress, including the 6 month 'no savepoint' mission to the furthest point in the galaxy and back....  plus a more detailed view of my travels around 'the bubble' of populated space, with Colonia at upper left, and Saggitarius A* at the galactic centre.  |

There's a long and complex fix for the launcher in this GOG Galaxy Failed to Load game database thread, as well as some shortcut fixes, but I can't help thinking that their QA team will be getting a new management - the effects of this (like Steam integration having to be re-established) will go on for years... I'm going to wait for a day or two to see if they fix it, but you might want to try this, if you're affected "I just wanted to let you guys know that even without a fix you can still play the games you already have installed by making a shortcut of the exe like for example let's say you own Morrowind, you go into the folder and find the Morrowind.exe file and from there you can either create a shortcut or launch it by clicking the exe itself which just bypasses Galaxy and goes straight into the game. I honestly recommend doing this for every game regardless of the fix BC it's quicker and doesn't force you to launch Galaxy every time you play a game. I could be wrong but from my experience the games still worked like that. I hope this helps some of you who just wanted to play the games you already have installed." - TylerJordan360 |
