Salty popcorn is very nice. It's a great medium for salt. Sugar - not so. You can't get an intense sugar hit so it just seems very bland, and ultimately disappointing.
Maybe this is because of the surface area ....

Yeah buttery, salty popcorn is great. Sugar? Get yourself some tablet popcorn. No lack of sugar there.

Having read up a bit about popcorn previously, when adding sugar/salt you need to have added an oil to the popcorn first so the sugar/salt sticks to it. Otherwise it just goes to the bottom of the bowl. Hence butter, but yer millennials use coconut oil and other pish.

Dinner is yellow stickered 69p chickpea & potato masala with pilau rice. And veg pakora.
Apparently the pakora is four portions. There are 5 pieces.

I can't remember what age I was when I tried my first popcorn (not something my parents would have given me, so probably already in double digits) but I still remember the crushing disappointment. How can something that smells so mouthwatering be so bland with such an unappealing texture?
My attitude has changed a bit over the years but not by much. In addition to that, I'm literally bearing the scars of other people's obsession with popcorn. It happened on a visit where the hosts were showing off their little table popcorn machine. I was wearing a low-cut top and while I was just sitting there minding my own business, two rogue pieces of popcorn landed in my, err, décolleté, leaving round burns. It was about 30 years ago but I can still see a very faint outline of the scars.

Popcorn with salt and drenched in butter is wonderful, it's also lots of fun to cook the kernels yourself in a saucepan*.

I've been verbally abused on B4Blood.
"Are you blind Tids?, we're supposed to be working as a team."
"Yeh, pretty much, I've got conjunctivitis, and it blurred my vision for a bit"
Fuck it, I'll have to stop playing for a bit.

To avoid accidents when making popcorn you should just stick it in the microwave.

Morning. Yesterday I took my bike out for a spin on the country roads for the first time in months. The best thing is the curt nod you always get from other cyclists. It's about the level of social interaction that I can handle these days. Games: no. Telly: discovered the Ps4 was offering us 3 months of free AppleTV, so started Ted Lasso and Severance. A low-key 6000th post but all the better for that.
