Moanin' Recently had some blood tests and an ECG after suffering a 'funny turn'. Got the results today. Bloods - all good, amazingly this includes liver, lol, those crazy egg heads down on the laboratory! ECG, high heart rate, which the doctor seemed to want to focus on and talk about, he sounded well impressed. Wants me to record my BP for two weeks then email it in. I'm going to design the best spreadsheet he's ever seen. Oh. Tuggers, RIP in peace, I had a good innings etc etc I had that a couple of years ago. The doctor concluded I was strong as a lion and sent me on my way. It was pretty unsettling though, for a while. I had an ECG a couple of years ago. I turned up at hospital with some strange illness that wasn't going away properly. They did a load of tests. If you have a hairy chest they will partly shave it. I had a steady resting heart rate of slightly below 70 which is fine. It was really steady as well. I could watch it as it was being measured. I knew already it wasn't a heart problem. They didn't find out what was wrong with me. Sent me home and said it's a virus come back if it persists. I think it was probably covid. It was just at the time covid was first spreading in the UK, but before lockdown. I didn't have a cough which is why they didn't do a covid test. I spent 3 days mostly sleeping and was ok afterwards. The ECG was great though. Fondled and shaved by a nurse and then told it was all ok.

Morning all! The boy has a “Victorian Day” at school today. The whole class have dressed up as a variety of Victorian stereotypes. He’s looking more chimney-sweep than anything. My suggestion of a British Army Zulu-wars era uniform for him was vetoed. A golden opportunity! If he was allowed fictional Victorian characters then Captain Nemo would have been fun! On the remainder of your post. Get better, get snappy chappie! As for families, I confess that it's something of a relief that my dysfunctional relations have predeceased me. Together we were always just a word or gesture away from a catastrophic and mutually destructive piece of unspeakable verbal savagery; oddly I was the peacemaker* most of the time, but I got so fed up with the "he said" "she said" crap that I was relieved when it stopped. But as you're a twin I guess family life was/is totally different *Even more ridiculous: I was youngest.

My suggestion of a British Army Zulu-wars era uniform for him was vetoed. TVblog: The (US) Office, and an episode of Seinfeld. And also watched Newsnight for their “Ukraine and the future of warfare” piece. Very interesting. Familyblog: phoned my dad to advise him of my recent maladies. He also informed me of some of the recent goings on from his partner’s side of the family. As you know, I rarely swear on here, so when you read this you know that I really mean it… fucking hell. I honestly have no idea how these people live their lives… Should have sent him off as a miniature Colour Sergeant Bourne, ‘tache and all

(Well done for pointing out to the doubters the correct use of the verb "to ralph"...) Get well soon young Tide - you're needed back on patrol!

… fucking hell. I honestly have no idea how these people live their lives… go on... Son is a child when it comes to money. A few examples, and keep in mind this is what I heard only yesterday… If he wants something, he gets it. He’s £20k in debt on his credit card. He wrote-off his Audi on New Year’s Eve as he drove too fast over a roundabout, smashed the whole front. Didn’t get police involved. Told the insurance company that the brakes failed. Now driving around in a £28k fuel-guzzling car that he acquired through fraud. Wanted to borrow my dad’s hybrid RAV4 to go to the passport office in London, as he’s asked them to fast-track it. This despite not having a holiday booked, or even being able to afford one. My dad asked why he couldn’t take his Audi or the girlfriend’s Mustang. “Fuel too expensive”. So he’s expecting to borrow the Toyota and not pay for the fuel used - no deal. “But the train’s a hundred quid!” Well phone up the passport office and get them to send it to you! Utter pratt.

Anyway, enough of all that. Hello, how are we all? I got back from Santorini on Monday. It was very nice, if a bit pricey.
Found out yesterday one of my colleagues died over the weekend. Heart attack. Bit shaken by it, he didn’t seem the age or shape for it at all.
Books - started the Sharpe series again on holiday, going to finish it this time. I finished Sharpe’s Eagle last night, with the first appearance of Colonel Simmerson. What a tosspot.
This of course led on to:
Games - Empire Total War. Giving the frenchies a damn good licking! Actually the Spanish and Swedish at the moment. Need to prepare a bit more to take on the French. And the yanks are getting a bit uppity too.

scubarI've seen a mod called Empire Total War 2. Looks good, the only thing which annoyed me was the path mapping of units in battles. Often they were unable to climb a wall as they'd just run along thr base of it. Otherwise fun!

I found a (well known, apparently) but in siege battles where if you blow up a section of a wall, it confuses the AI path finding, and slows down everything to a crawl. Since then I’ve avoided big siege battles, and rely on auto resolve a lot more. Which isn’t great.

She had something of a breakdown in her late 70s and ended up sectioned. They recommended ECT as the best treatment. This was about 5 years ago I didn't know they still used it, but apparently they do. It is given mostly to women in their 70s as well. It worked as well. She's never been the same as previous to the problems, but is definitely much recovered. I don't think it is as barbaric as in One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, but I do not intend to find out.

Great game of Tarkov at lunch. I chased shots from across the map and expertly hunted down and ambushed a level 16 player. Blasted him in the dick twice with a shotgun.

Part of my banking security now is filling in my email address. It anylizes how I do it and can tell if it's me or not. Not sure what happens if I had a bad finger and typed it slightly differently. Possibly log me out from my account and I end up homeless and destitute all because of a sore finger.
